Natemills8 Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Do I have to use the brass thing on top of the head or can & plug it up & not use it all I do is drag race. what is the thing for I heard it was a over flow & a pressure relief? Quote
locogato11283 Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 i believe if you plug that up your coolant will not flow properly. the overflow for the coolant runs from the radiator to the overflow bottle, if you still have one. some people just ditch the bottle and run the overflow straight to the ground. why would you want to plug it up anyway? Natemills8 Posted February 7, 2009 Author Report Posted February 7, 2009 well ok My buddy got one on his I just dont like the look of a stock radiator on a bare frame I was just wanting to know if I could do it or not so I guess Ill just drill a whole in the radiator & make a overflow tube Quote
okbeast Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 There's quite a few aftermarket radiators out there that are smaller that people put on their drag frames, I would assume they have all the correct line hook-ups. Just something else to check into. Quote
2001Stroker Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 That brass fitting in the top of your cool head, is to self-bleed the trapped air out of the head. You either need the hose that goes from there to the top of the radiator, or put a petcock on there so you can manually bleed the air out. You have to be able to bleed the trapped air out somehow, or it will overheat fast. Quote
