travis6767 Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 ok right now i have stock stroke cylinders with mx port and polish, and if i was going to put a 4mm stroker crank in what all would i have to do, i would like to keep these cylinders because they are one of the cleanest port jobs i have seen, can someone let me know every part i would need to do this? thanks Quote
BellicoseBanshee Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 ok right now i have stock stroke cylinders with mx port and polish, and if i was going to put a 4mm stroker crank in what all would i have to do, i would like to keep these cylinders because they are one of the cleanest port jobs i have seen, can someone let me know every part i would need to do this? thanks The first thing you need to do is find out whether or not your cylinders can be ported to match the 4mm stroke. Contact the shop/builder that did the cylinder porting and get the run down before you commit to the build... Quote
2slow350 Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 A 4mill will most likely have 115 rods. so all you need is long rod pistons, cut the domes/or add a spacer that I don't recommend, then ask your builder who ported your cylinders and see if you can raise the exhaust 2mm or not.. Quote
njbanshee Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Its not just a bolt on. Call a builder. Quote
KEVSWS6 Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 It can be just a bolt on with a spacer plate and pistons. This will make more power than a stocker. If you want to make real power get in touch with a builder. You will need it ported and I like to run without a spacer plate. I like to run a cool head and custom domes. Also a timing plate and a set of good pipes. Quote
travis6767 Posted January 16, 2009 Author Report Posted January 16, 2009 whats wrong with the spacers? it doesnt make sense to do the spacers, doesnt that defeat the purpose of doing the longer rod? trinity was the place that ported them, but it was like 4 years ago, i heard that they are kinda shitty now, so all i need to do is find out if they can open the port window to match the 4mm stroker piston's window right? KEVSWS6 Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 If the transfers have been lifted at all the spacer will make the durations to big. Then the motor will not want to rev out. Yes, match the port windows and make sure the durations are not too big. Quote
