SAVAGE420 Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 (edited) I need to hear from the guys that knows whats good and whats not. Im about to get some porting so im wondering about my top end as it sits now. My plan was to just to re-ring and mabey a hone and use the same pistons. How does everything look? First 9 pics i cleaned the tops of the pistons (one piston in the first pics) pretty good with some nitro cleaner and the rest are right when i took it apart. http://s27.photobucket.com/albums/c164/sav...%202008%20pics/ Second page here you can see the cylinder wall pretty good. Im just confused what i should do. Im not sure if its just heavy carbon build up from running 100LL all year cause the pics of the bottom of the pistons look brand new still...are they burnt up real bad to replace , or would they be fine with a hone and re-ring? Whats your opinion, thanx for your time ? Chris  Edited November 21, 2008 by savage420 Quote
wacko2000 Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Have you done a compression check? Quote
SAVAGE420 Posted November 21, 2008 Author Report Posted November 21, 2008 Have you done a compression check? LOL of course man. Im not worried about the compression. im just concerned a lil about how the piston tops sides and bottoms look. Quote
brian Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 The top of the pistons don't look bad. That does not mean the pistons are still good ! The pistons need to be measured with a micrometer to see if they are still round enough to use(.001-.002 inch). The cylinders need to be inspected with a bore gage for the same thing. My guess it that you will need to bore/hone to the next .25mm Quote
wacko2000 Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 As long as you have good compression and shee is running good, why even mess with it? "If it ain't broke don't fix it" One it breaks than you have a excuse to make it faster  Quote

Just some people say one thing then an other says diff so......LOL  Edited November 21, 2008 by savage420 Quote

XxMeltIcexX Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Thanx brian, i will keep that in mind! If you get them ported I would definately get them bored/honed while its apart, matched to new pistons obviously. Just what I'd do. Quote
