I was told they made a lock up clutch that doesnt require the clutch cover mod. Obviously it is designed different then the typical lockups we see but I cant find any info on these in my searches.

 

Who makes them and do they work as well as the others.

I have a few in stock. They work great on our bikes. Have one on a 4 and one on a 10 mil cub both ported and make real power. Also know a few on here that drag race with them and they have no problems with them. I wont build a bike without one now.

Are these installed on top of the pressure plate like the DD?

Get ready to rig your stock clutch cover though. Go to your local hardware store and get some silicone so you can keep the oil from leaking out your case due to the fact that you have to grind the inner stock bolts that usually keeps your clutch cover insert on. Sorry but that's just not for me. I feel it's kinda Blank rigged in a way

 

The DD lockup is a nice piece and what's why it's more than the slingshot

YOu could always buy the bigger cover and run the slingshot. That's what I did on my 421; and ground the cover on the 392. I like the slingshot vs the DD. I've ran both. The slingshot seems to lock up instantly, which is what I like; though some want it to slip a little at first.

Everything leaks without a gasket or sealer. The sling shot goes under the stock cover. Once the stock cover is lightly modified you never have to mess with it again. The sling shot is small, light and stealth. It is the best design on the market. You can spend big money, have a tumor growing from your case and increase you rotating mass but that's not me.

I use the slingshot...and have no issues with it whatsoever...

I do not have the under stock cover, I already had a modded side cover...so it was non-issue for me.

 

I'm 250, drag race in sand...and I tried this lockup with one row of ball bearings, the bike did not like it.

I was just experimenting...

 

I have a 10 mil cub on alky, btw...

 

Kevin Gigot, who makes the lockup is a great guy...and this is a great product. I've used it all season, hundreds of passes...not a single issue.

 

You must make sure the clearances are correct and within spec, but Kevin Herr or Kevin Gigot can very easily tell you how to check that and what to do if it needs to be adjusted.

 

My sidecover was epoxied about 3 times and I got tired of the leaking...I finally got it welded a few months ago...no issues since.

They kick ass. I got the light one to fit under my stock cover with an insert for an 8 plate clutch. It's easy to install and works great. It's called a "Undercover" slingshot lockup. Nate Mccoy at Mccoy's Perf. is where I got mine. I think they are just over $200 or maybe $230 I dont remember. My light model cost a little less.
