05.Banshee.SE Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 My bike was all stock, and I took off the TORS, added T5s, K&N Pods, and ported stock cages w/ Boyeseen Carbon Fiber petals. (350 mains, stock needle clip position, stock pilot.) Now, it runs a bit warm. (Although it was before.) But lately, the slides or throttle have been sticking, and it revs high, and one time the kil switch would not kill it. Idk if the plug wires will kill it (so I don't know if it's running off of the heat or what.) I was only out about 5 minutes when it revved high like that. It's also been kind of skipping on one cylinder--but my fuel line is a bit tight, and I have not replaced it yet. I'm hoping lubing the cables, cleaning and lubing the slides, and a new fuel line will fix her up, but anyways; this is what I'm going to check...feel free to throw in your 2 cents. -Lube throttle cables -Check slides for gumming up/etc. (Lube with a bit of premix) -Check for air leaks -Check compression (I know I'm near a rebuild) -Reeds -Still a problem...then head gasket? I will be throwing the coolhead and domes in once I get a timing plate, so if there's any issues with the stock head or gaskets, they will be thrown out soon. And I'm saving for a rebuild from HJR, I just can't get it done right now though. Quote
Wildcardracing Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 You need to address the slide sticking issue, did you put the slides together properly...the hole in the slide cannot be covered by the retainer. But, it sounds to me as though you also have an air leak. I would suspect the reed gaskets since that's one of the items you have had off. Quote
2strokecook Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 sound kinda like an air leak bud, i had kinda the same issue, when i would let off the throttle the motor would hang and keep at the high r's. i fixed the air leak ( for got to tighten intake boot clamp) and syned the carbs while i was at it and it was fixed. those intake boots are from what i hear pretty notorious for crackin and ya really need to check em out. akita8 Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Pull your filters off and see if your slides are sticking. If not check for an air leak with some carb cleaner or starting fluid around the boots and reeds. Just spray it around. Quote
fast500#12 Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 if you over tighten the carb tops you slides will stick. Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted October 13, 2008 Author Report Posted October 13, 2008 I'll double check how I put the slides in...but it should be right. (I was running fine modded for 2 weeks.) I should have lubed them before I put them back in (just from having the carbs apart and handling pieces it's prob a bit dry.) That's my own fault. I'll check for the air leak with a propane torch. Boots or reed gasket sounds reasonable enough. Quote
