Biztalbin Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 Head Gaskets reusable? I know, its not about the cost but more over about waiting to pick up a new one. I Installled the cylinder with a new gasket and realized I forgot something...... had to pull the head back off soo.. can I re use the one time squished gasket? or do I need to replace after every peek into the cylinders? Yes it was torqued into place =( Its a copper gasket. Thanks in advance Quote
LiftdT4R Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 I wouldnt..... I always keep a few spares. If you do, do a compression test and a leakdown test, if they work out, then you should be fine. Also make sure it doesnt ooze coolant either. Quote
bansheejoel Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 there cheap, why risk it? Quote
sinisterboo Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 I personally have not had good luck with copper head gaskets anyways, new or otherwise. They would leak compression into the water jackets and blow all the water out. thats my 2 cents.... Quote
Biztalbin Posted October 6, 2008 Author Report Posted October 6, 2008 Yeah...... ( heavey sigh ) I shouldnt risk it, just rebuilt the internal parts and I'd hate to be hasty now......dirty P word, Patience =(. Thanks for the replies folks. Yea I'll look into better gaskets as well. Quote
