polkaudio Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 Because distributors usually get a bulk price from the manufacturer and are able to pass a lower price onto the end user. They make their money in bulk. Quote
Tim Potteiger Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 Almost all manufacturers sell their product lines for over retail or very inflated retail since their real business is wholesaling quantities to distributors. If Works sold cheaper than their distributors, then no one would carry Works, and they would likely go out of business. Quote
sinisterboo Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 maybe scratch and dent stuff too. or shitty powdercoat or chrome...... Quote
Stellar Performance Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 Tim Potteiger pretty much nailed it. When you are a manufaturer and have dealers selling your products, you have to sell them for MSRP (manufacturer's suggested retail price). As a dealer you are supposed to sell the parts for MSRP or MAP(manufacturer's Advertised Pricing) which is supposed to be the lowest they can advertise them for. Now just like any other business, company's can have their SALES which then allow them to every once in a while have cheaper pricing. Most likely there is nothing wrong with the parts....they just are going to have to sell more to make more. Quote
