keilola Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 I have a stock 99. I need to replace the chain roller. Is there a recommended kit to buy with an upper and lower roller included? thanks in advance~~ First post! Quote
keilola Posted August 27, 2008 Author Report Posted August 27, 2008 One more thing...... Do I need to replace the slider too? It seems to be alright. I think I just need to do that rollers. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 they have kits with all new sliders and rollers on ebay. Upp makes a good set, but they are not cheap for the set. an option for rollers if skate board wheels. They should have the same size holes for the bearings, you just need to get a little longer bolt Quote
mdhc500 Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 Do you have to run a lower roller? Mine doesnt/didnt have one when I got it??? Quote
Hilarious Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 i'd recommend one for sure on the bottom. i do not run one on the top though. i am using one from a yzf450. i think i paid 12bucks for it. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 the bottom one is a pretty good idea to have to help control the chain slap. Another option for the lower is to run a chain tensioner rather then the static roller Link Quote
travis6767 Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 rockymountainatv.com has them for $10.00 they work great and have good bearings in them Quote
jbooker82 Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 You could get the TM Desinge Works Slide N Guide kit. Comes with 2 power lip rollers Swing Arm Slider Rear Chain guide. The nice thing about there rear chain guide is it has 2 rollers in the bottom. http://www.tmdesignworks.com/xcart/customer/home.php?cat=305 Quote

The nice thing about there rear chain guide is it has 2 rollers in the bottom. http://www.tmdesignworks.com/xcart/customer/home.php?cat=305 I have that same one...the lower roller. I run a 45 or 44 tooth rear sprocket, and it binds on the rollers. I removed one of them...and it still bound to the point of the roller locked and acts as a "slider" now.... Here's what I've run in the past, (I currently run the same tensioner like bansh-eman posted but got it from JL Lucky ATV) http://www.magicracing.com/UPP-Chain-Slide...p_748-1058.html Here's that tensioner from Jame Lucky (Scroll down on the left, click chain tensioner)..might be a few bucks cheaper depending on shipping. http://www.jlatvproducts.com/ Quote
