  1. So I got a 06 banshee. It was stored for 10 years, a month or two ago i decided to work on it, so i changed every fluid, i cleaned it, euro coolant, cleaned the carbs ( both were clogged), it was working pretty well, until one day i went for a ride, everything well until it started to pop from one exhaust, then i discovered the left sparkplug wasnt working, so i bought 2 B6's sparkplugs (it had B8's) today i tried it and it didnt start, so we decided yo clean the carbs again but it doesnt start. Can somebody help me? Its got a rebuilt gearbox too
  2. Hey gang, not sure if the forums are still as active as they were before FB came along but I figured I would try anyways, so here goes. I recently picked up a basket case for a good price and the PO said it had issues with spark, so being pretty ok with electrical stuff as I completely wired my XR650R and learned a great deal while doing. Anyways, I get the quad home and immediately start tinkering and I find the tors box still connected yet all the tors stuff was deleted. I unhooked it and bam it sparked. Then in the process of trying to start it and tune it I found a air leak in the crank seal and a few other issues so I tore down the engine and did a complete rebuild. I got it all back together and crank it over and I had it running and began tuning it, this is where my issues started. I removed the carbs to install bigger pilots and it wouldn't start, so I began with checking for spark and there was none. I tested the coil and the primary tested within spec and I tested the secondary as the clymers says and nothing, I check resistance accross both boots and it was within the clymers specs, interesting. I then checked the stator and all of that, except the lighting coil, tested within spec. I then checked all wires for continuity and they all checked out (there is no key switch, so the red/black was tied directly into ground as it should be). I tested the kill switch and it didnt show continuity on or off, so I took it apart and cleaned the contacts, so that is fixed now. I then checked all my grounds and even added a grounding strap from a head stud to one of the coil mounts just to make sure the motor had a good chassis ground. I also checked the pickup gap and set it to .016". Heres where it gets interesting, I checked the voltage output from the stator ignition coil and it would read between 5-8 volts (between red and green at the stator plug) and then I read the voltage output from the CDI at the coil plugs and it only read .4 volts. After seeing that, and knowing that the capacitor within the CDI should be putting out more than its getting in I figured my CDI was shot. After all that, I ordered a used OEM CDI, a used OEM Coil, and a new RS Stator (was checked by F.A.S.T. before shipment) and I hooked it all up and still no spark. The stator and coil checked good as far as Ohm readings go and I have yet to check the CDI voltage output to the coil. I also tore apart the harness and checked wires for damage and found the harness was in good shape and I rechecked and made sure to sand clean all the paint from chassis ground locations. Sorry for the long post but in an effort to be thorough and paint a complete picture of my issues it needed to be this long. Can anyone point me in the right direction on what to try next? Unfortunately I dont have anyway to swap parts from a known running banshee as I dont know anyone locally who has one. I am at my wits end trying to figure this thing out, and I find it highly unlikely that I received 1 or more DOA components.
  3. I have an 01 shee. I got it in May of '16. It has Toomey T5 pipes a KN air, and some upgraded suspension. I was replacing my front control arms last week. I took it out to test it all out once it was together, it would not start. Then after some digging I found the two wires from the key had unplugged. I then just connected the wires together. I had done this once before when I lost my key. I got it to run once together. It would bog out at half throttle. it has gotten cold here in northern Illinois. I decided to rejet it from the 280 to 300 and bought the 290 because from what I read on here you should go up two sizes and be able to come back. I could not get it to do anything with either 290 or 300. I put the 280s back in and still nothing, tried a pull start nothing. I have spark, I have 100lbs on the right and 105 on the left. I know this is lower than stock, but it is the same as when I got it in May. Help please
  4. Ran my banshee for about an hour today after I repacked the silencers. It was running perfect. My neighbor who's an ex-pro motocross rider, hopped on next and took it for a spin. He was running it really hard (compared to how I ride it) for about 5 mins. He came down the last straight away in our track and ripped thru the gears and it was still running perfect. As he pulled off the track, he rolled up to where we standing, he hit the kill switch. It sat for about 1 min and he went to take it for another ride. Instead of kicking it, he attempted to roll start it out of laziness. But when the tires turned the engine over, all I heard was the engine bog. As the tires rolled I could hear him hitting the throttle. Didn't fire once. Checked around for loose wires, don't seem to see any. Pulled the plugs, they were saturated in gas. Grabbed each plug in my hand and kicked it over. Neither side shocked me. So no spark. Any one know what could go wrong within that short of a time period. Ran fine until the kill switch was flipped. I took apart the kill switch and cleaned it. Still nothing . Any ideas of what I need to check next. Thanks guys.
  5. Just picked up a new bike ,threw a few new parts on it (nothing electrical ) , new fluids , and kicked it over with one of the plugs out and it doesn't spark , the key was removed by the person befor me and replaced with one of those tether things . I don't kno much about electrical so was looking for some troubleshooting help from some banshee lovers like myself . Can post pictures if needed i think idk because this is my first posting , thanks in advance !
