  1. Are you serious or just trying to test me. Lol. There is a concentricity call out on anything with that symbol of +/- .001, I think it was. That’s in inches. So anything on the print with that symbol has to comply with the concentricity specified on the print. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Hung like a baby? 7lb, 8oz, 22 inches. I have the same problem Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I mean, so is a pilot jet but people still need them
  4. i actually laughed pretty good from that one. haha.
  5. Well if I did, you didn't complain at all. haha
  6. Thanks. The pictures above are from my job and the post was just a smart ass response to 375hp. LOL. I got the banshee because I have wanted one when I was a kid. It turned into an obsession the minute I rode it. But I have been wanting to start my own shop and make specialty parts for people just like the guys on this site who want parts that are hard to find, custom, mods, etc.
  7. Yeah the “skills” it takes to machine then drill an already almost fully drilled hole in a piece of aluminum cast and then tap it with a real life M6x.75 tappy doo dad was overwhelming. So I practiced by making a 21 station progressive stamping die that makes this: But practiced by making the thing in the background first. But still wasn’t sure I had the skills so made some of these. Super easy once I decided on what wheel to use for the 60-62Rc CPM4V material. I chose the SG46 with 30% ceramic and a regular vitrified bond. But so easy. I mean look at those wide open tolerances of .0002 and .0005. A monkey could do it. But then I only had like 5 minutes to spare on a carb body a friend of mine gave me FOR FREE. Am I doing it right? Mad skills, yo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Need a right side stick mikuni carb. Don’t need the float, bowl, jets, or tors but let me know what you have. Would rather shop here than ebay Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Never send bike parts to an automotive machinist... especially if they tell you the boring machine won't size down small enough. Huh? Boring bars can go to any size, mandrills are interchangeable, feeler gages are cheap and a full on retard can set the bar and measure the bore after the machine basically does the work for him. They also give no fucks about the work they do, in so many cases, because their customers will never know they did a shit job. The dumb fucks doing so much of the work at these places are just pushing a green button on a machine some other dumb fuck set up for him. Just my 2 cents. Don't send anything non-harley to anybody who mostly focuses on harley stuff either. Your parts will always fall behind whatever the yuppie with the CVO dick-face owner wants done to his bike so its cooler than his dick-faced buddy's bike and even though you were next in line, for a blow job from the CVO owner, the shop will push your parts to the side to take care of his new butt buddy. I ride a harley and won't bring my bike to a harley guy. Probably didn't need to say any of this shit but I'm lonely and just want people to like me and be my friend.
  10. So first of all, custom or one piece parts are expensive. Shop hour are anywhere between $60 and $100. I'd also charge a flat rate for consultation, design, etc and offer guarantees and warrantys. so with that in mind... I have been a tool and die maker for a long time, did my apprenticeship under a German owned shop, 2 year degree in tool and die and a 1 year program for mechanical design. My wife and I have been throwing around the idea that I could open up my own shop. Cylinder Boring is something I can do. I bore, hone, turn, mill and grind to tolerances of +/-.0001 inches or .0025mm every day. So skills are there. I am good at what I do. The problem of starting a machine shop is most niches are already serviced. I have made stamping dies, jigs, fixtures and gages for the auto, aerospace, military, medical, household products etc. industries but have never seen a machine shop that does specific pieces, mods, etc. They are out there but I have never seen a shop like that which tells me two things... no money in it or people just haven't done it. What I would want to do is make parts specific to customer wants. From cosmetic designs to custom parts. Axle carriers to custom size pilot jets specific to your carbs. So basically just trying to see how much interest there would be. There is almost nothing on a banshee or any other bike made of metal that I can't make. I can't engineer a better head or design a better carburetor. That involves too much I don't have experience with. But i could take a design and bring it to life. Obviously I would do whatever a customer wanted done, not just banshees, but things like this hobby are exactly what I would want to target.
  11. I mean... I'm new to 2 strokes myself but if you can turn a screw driver, have the money to pay a mechanic and want to have your repairs done when you want them done... do them yourself. For the most part (other than grease, gas and dirt, some stuck screws here and there, you can work on it yourself just as easily as you can open a tin can. Go buy a clymer manual (basically a step by step instruction book for everything on your bike including general maintenance and repairs from a gasket replacement to a full engine tear down and reassembly. Parts are easy to get, there are a lot of people here who know their shit, tons of excellent youtube videos, etc. What you'll pay a mechanic will get you almost all of the tools you'll need. Impact driver, small and large torque wrenches or, at least a 20-100 ft lb, small set of screw drivers, dental pick set, snap ring pliars (small and large), wrenches, screw drivers, a couple naked lady magazines, beer, carb, brake, contact cleaners etc. These are almost as easy as legos... and what isn't easy is just going to require patience, swear words and advice from others here. You'll be happy as hell you did it yourself. my 2 cents
  12. Oh man thanks! Haha. I am just going to grab a jet kit then. That would have been frustrating to find out the hard way Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Right on, man. Thanks! I'll pull the jugs off tomorrow and get a measurement.
  14. Oh awesome. And yeah, I usually try to creep up on jet sizes. Also broke down and bought another sync tool. I have one I made a while back for 4 carb racks but for CV carbs. Wont work with these direct slides. I think thats what these carbs are. The idle adjustment looks like it is through the cable on these goofy TORS units?
  15. Oh I bought the kits for the gaskets, etc. I bought the toomey needle (and main jets) but more for the needle. I havn't opened the carbs yet but I have a lot of mikuni pilots and main jets from old bikes. I am guessing I will open the carbs to find 310s or bigger in there but who knows. I did run a couple of chops before I started tearing into it and it was running rich AF and the air screws were out over three turns. The boot mods have me a little curious. Will I need different boots or just need to modify the existing boots? The boots on there are actually solid so if I don't have to buy them, that would be great.
  16. I went straight for the tweak. Haha. Note the face in the profile pic to the left.
  17. You’re revving with no power? I mean 380 jet, compared to all of the other threads on jetting, is massive. But if you’re revving with no power, sounds crazy but how are your clutch plates? Just getting the notion that you can get throttle but no power to the wheels? Maybe I’m misunderstanding. No power because of rich, I mean that much power loss, you’d see it all day. The exhaust would smell unspent, plugs would probably be soaked and black, and it would sound and feel bogged down. And lean, you’d be able to get into the power band and scoot but you’d feel less pull and probably flatten out pretty bad. But seriously sounds like there’s something up with the clutch. Bad plates or bad cable adjustment, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Oh I ran it a bit. I just bought it Monday. I usually go with Wiseco pistons any time the heads come off. Cast pistons make excellent ashtrays. Never rebuilt or did any work on 2 strokes other than helping my dad’s friend rebuilt my top end on a CZ Fanta 400 about 30 years ago. Haha. No I can’t see numbers on the pistons. I didn’t remove the heads since the compression was good. I meant to check it before I pulled everything apart and remembered to do it right before I was about to pulled the carbs and reeds.
  19. I pulled the exhaust and air ox off, drained the tank and pulled all of that then remembered I wanted to do a compression check. I did it with exhaust and airbox off and got 110 on both sides. Did notice faint vertical lines on pistons through exhaust ports but rings look great. Intake side is clean. Exhaust ports a gnarly and coked up. Should I pull the heads and clean the ports and replace the rings and maybe pistons or run these since the compression is good but exhaust ports are funky? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I’m going to bring the to work and do it in a Bridgeport mill. I’m a tool and die maker so if I break a tap in this cast, I will be sure to pay someone to throat punch me for doing so. Haha. Work is a good place for the carb stuff anyway because we have a ultrasonic wash tanks. But seriously, thanks for the advice. I’ll set a stop so as not to drill into the other side of the bore Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I have the K&N filter kit in it. Came already set up that way. But I am a tool and die maker so I will be modifying the airbox for easy installation and removal.
  22. This sounds like the dumbest question in the world and I can't believe I am asking this.... Any reason why someone would intentionally leave stingers loose at the comp chambers and leave the silencers loose on the stingers? This quad sat for long intervals and was in a pole barn, buried under stuff for at least a year before I grabbed it. Wondering if loosening the exhaust is some sort of storage thing or if the sitting out in the cold then suddenly being brought to life was enough to rattle everything loose.
  23. Thank you. And yeah the tors delete has the cables, caps, etc. I also grabbed a sync tool. And new tubing, etc. last thing I want is to get it all back together only to realize I missed something way back in the hour and a half ago area. Haha. I won’t really be able to get any solid plug chops til it warms up outside but I can do enough to get close. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
