  1. both caps and wires are brand new.
  2. hi guys, i have the gap set at 0.018in and the metal boxes are still there but theres no more wiring/little black box for the TORS.
  3. Its set at 0.40mm. I have moved it around from 0.25mm up to 0.50. it makes no difference at all.
  4. Hi guys. my '97 shee is giving me endless troubles. first off it just died on me and i traced that to a dead ignition coil, replaced the ignition coil. still there was no spark so i replaced the CDI with a known working one but still no luck. I tested the the pickup and it gave me 145 ohms, tested the magneto coils and it gave me 18.4ohms. If i put a normal 12V test light between green and red it gives good voltage constantly. if i put a 3V led between red/white and green/white its shows a signal constantly. i opened the harness and triple checked everything from plugs to connections, everything! now heres the tricky bit. if i leave it sitting for a couple days and i get on and kick it i get good spark for about 5 kicks then it gets weaker quickly til no spark by 8-9 kicks. has anybody had similar issues and whats the possible fixes please? thanks
  5. Thanks for the info bhatch,I had it tested at the KTM shop. the coil has an serious internal short, you can hear it sparking inside. so at lest ive got my problem.
  6. ok,so i tested everything again today according to yamaha manual found on the net. ........................spec.................................measured value primary coil......0,28-0,38 ohm .......................0,00 ohm secondary...... 4,7 - 7,1 kohm .......................0,00 ohm source coil......13,7-20,5 ohm....................... 38,1 ohm pickup coil..... 94-140 ohm............................120,3 ohm my dmm goes all the way to 0.00 ohm when i touch the two leads,is it zeroed properly then? it seems the coil is screwed rather than the cdi? is there a way to test the system with a test light somehow? where should i get what? regarding the lights, some idiot connected the yellow and black wires coming from the lighting coil the wrong way around so guess thats why its not giving any power. any input will be appreciated
  7. Yep checked out the shebang. no detectable problems on the wiring loom. Ive ordered a clymer manual, should get it in about 2 weeks time. thanks for the help and info guys, really appreciated!
  8. thanks for the help, now to source another CDI to test with, sounds like its time to start saving A week after paying Eq. of $2300 for it. shit is damn expensive this side of the pond!!!
  9. yep,i read through that one and the stator resistances checks out except for the lighting coil that gives 0.00 ohm resistance. the only thing i couldnt test was the CDI as i dont know anybody else with a shee. could the lighting curcuit cause the CDI to blow as the only share a fuse the way i read the diagram?
  10. So i got my first banshee about a week ago,all original except for FMF pipes and twist throttle and all the TORS wires snipped. I found the headlights were not working so i took the bulbs out and tested them with an ohm meter and found good continuity upon plugging them back into the sockets the bike died and now there is no spark. what should i test and how? please help guys as parts are damn expensive here in south africa. Equivalent of $700 for a stator and $850 for a CDI and $100 for a regulator. thanks guys.
