  1. I've been running mine without the choke tube as well. I am going to put it in today to see if that's my starting issue.
  2. You get the links apart with a chain breaker, or a grinder a punch and a hammer. Then just buy a couple master links and size it up.
  3. Really does sound like piston slap, I know my 01 that I just put together doesn't have that sound at all. Just normal kick start rattling.
  4. Sweet. So far my planned upgrades are: Trinity Adjustable timing plate, Dynatek Ignition, and rejetting because I feel like a 320 main is a little too big, and the pilot is too big as well. It has a small stutter from low end and I think it's the jets.
  5. I'll test the compression tomorrow hopefully, and I will post up my results. If I remember from years ago when I had one, throttle wide open, adapter should be close to the same length as plug threads to be accurate?
  6. I will be up there in May if I can get her running right, and if I can get the time off of work.
  7. Alrighty, 01, bought it as a basket case and it won't kickstart, only pull start. Stock carbs(choke tube is missing), T5s, .030 over(Wiesco Pro Lites), Welded and Trued HotRods Crank, VForce 3s. I am thinking the choke tube is the issue, but I haven't checked the compression yet. If there are any other suggestions though I would love to hear them. Also has a nasty high idle, I almost think that it is sucking air somewhere but I haven't checked! A little background though, bought it in a bunch of boxes cause the previous owner realized that it wouldn't shift, he had no idea what he was looking at or for though. So I bought it and found the rod and ball were welded to the main axle, so I replaced the main axle, ball, rod, and lever. Pulled the jug, pistons, and rings, cleaned them all up cause someone ran it rich and scored them, but it runs great other than the high idle and the starting issue. Sorry for the long post, but I am trying to be thorough. Thanks in advance everyone.(Will get pics up soon, although it's nothing special to look at.)
  8. Come on guys, this thing looks completely legit.....?
  9. I have put the most likely and true answers.
  10. I am dealing with the exact same thing right now. Only my rod had welded it self in there. So I had to replace the main axle in the tranny. Which is a little bit bigger job, but still not a terrible one. ALso did it smash up the push lever? If so get a new one and don't mess with the burrs on it.
  11. Awesome work. Too bad you didnt strip all the gears off of the drive axles and show the proper alignment of them. I'm in the middle of replacing the Main Axle so this info will be helpful!
