Dont think the Shearers will really do you any good with your motor. And from what I've read, the T-5 isnt really the best pipe for low end grunt. I've never ran either of those pipes but I was looking into T-6's which supposedly give you more of all around power. Most of the guys riding the hills with shearers are running big stroker motors and such. However you will never know until you try!

I didn't have that problem with my hinson however from a mechanical stand point, sanding the key is ok. I just wouldn't want any slop in the keyway. IMO. Good luck.

One basic thing to do is pull apart all your electrical connectors and spray them with contact cleaner and see if they are comiing apart. Sometimes people who cant get them apart break the little locking tabs off. My CDI connector was coming apart one time and did the same thing.
