'01 Banshee, FMF fatties w/ powercore 2's. Stock other than that. Going to be putting a 35mm single carb on it soon, and probably a cool head.

  1. Well I just bought another Banshee after about a 10 year hiatus. Up until a few days ago it was great, ran awesome. But then I went and put the FMFs on and tried my hand at rejetting the carbs (first time for that sort of thing), and after all was said and done, the bike wouldnt start if you left the throttle at idle, but if you opened it just a little it would fire right up, but not idle at all. Also, the right side would spit about every time I hit the throttle, acting like it got fuel accumulated in the pipe and then ignited. Pretty sure I got some dirt in the carbs while I was rejetting, but after I tried cleaning, it still did the same thing. Anyway, back to the point of this post, Im going to be ordering a single 35mm carb kit for it... I've heard mixed feelings about whether a 35 is too small, too big, or just right for a lightly modded motor. Everyone has a different opinion. If you do the math though, the single 35 has 962 sq. mm. of carb area, and the twin 26mm stock carbs have around 1062 sq. mm. So if anything it may be a tick on the small side. So, I figured I'd just pick a path and stay with it. So here it is: I need to confirm some jetting numbers for a banshee with a stock motor, FMF pipes and silencers, and the k&n filter that comes with the carb kit. My elevation is around 1500ft and temps will be in the 80s and 90s. From what I have read, 155 mains and 50 pilots with the needle in the middle clip should work fine. Anyone have any other suggestions? I'm looking to get it pretty close before I even start it... If thats possible. Im open to any ideas you guys might have. Thanks!
