  1. Are you sure you were in 1st gear? From neutral, did you pull the shift lever up and try to drop the clutch at higher RPM's? I imagine since you came from a 5 speed utility quad or something with an automatic clutch, neutral would be at the bottom, and up would be 1-5. On these neutral is sandwhiched in between 1st and 2nd, it still the same shit pattern pretty much once ur in gear, its just neutral is in a different spot. I know this confuses alot of peope at first, when people are trying to tell them the shift pattern is like 1 down 5 up or something, just shift it like a normal quad, and when you ever want to get it back in nuetral, its between first and second.
  2. What I dont get is how are these people saying that putting a 110 horsepower engine in a banshee, wont be that fast? Are you guys all spending 20,000$ on your engines to put out 125 horsepower off racefuel or something? Also the gixxer engine would be making 110 RELIABLE horsepower, unlike a build banshee engine putting out near that much. I think the swap would be fun, if people can put an R1 engine in a banshee frame, a 600cc engine should fit fine.
  3. I would adjust the rear tires so they dont much pressure on the ground, I would make some type of adjustable linkage so you can increase and decrease the ground pressure. Also I'd have skis in the front in the winter, dual carbides on each. Mainly this was meant for winter use.
  4. Haha, I need to finish building my banshee before I start on something like this! I'll be fabbing something up for sure later on though like this I think.
  5. Wonder if anyones ever thought of fabbing something up like tis? Basically, you would take the stock swinger, plus another stock swinger, and build something that would look like this. You would have a double sprocket on the original axle, and space the 2nd one out to match up, for another chain to attatch. I doubt it would be really that hard to make, and under hard acceleration, the front end would lift but not risk flipping back, as the furthest to the rear shock would be soft enough to compress under acceleration. For winter, you could wrap a track on each side, if needed? Something I came up with at work haha, bored.
  6. Actually I think the reason that people dont like the twist throttles on quads, is that when they grew up using thumb throttles, there more adapted to holding on mainly with their arms, and not needing to really keep your body balanced on the quad or balanced when leaning, they just rely on their arm strength to hold them up, which would be a bad idea when your hanging onto a twist grip, so in return it might scare them when they are pulling on it and giving it more throttle then they wanted. Riders that are used to twistys, probably are more used to keeping themselves balanced on the bike or quad, their naturally balancing themselves better in the corners with their feet and leg muscles, not their arms? Just a theory, balance plays a huge roll in snowmobiling in the rockies, doing climbs out there at 9000 - 12000 feet, you NEED to have good balance, and I'm pretty used to that, carving on 45* slopes.
  7. Well, I've read a few mixed reviews on twist throttles now. I'm building my banshee from the frame up w/ new & used parts. I've installed a new pro something twist throttle kit, wasnt a cheap junky one thats goona stick on me, but I'm curious as to who here has run twist throttles on banshee's for trail riding, and what the likes and dislikes are about it? Everything I've ridden 2stroke has been a twisty, minus sleds of course. Just wanna see what your guys opinions are. I do have the yamaha thumb throttle sittin on my bench also, but the quad wont be running for about a month or so. By then it will be winter too, haha.
  8. Found some billet CNC cut ones for 18$ that come with the bolts, and rubber washers.... think I'll go with those lol, thanks though.
  9. That would make sense then! Thats what I was thinking, was there was some type of hangers, but couldnt find any pics clear enough to make sure. Wonder how much those hangers cost? If any sponsors see this, lemme know! Thanks.
  10. Does anyone have a pic of where they mount towards the front of the frame? It looks like theres a reinforced looking spot as to where the pipe would mount to, but when I mock up the silencers where they would mount, and then slide the main pipe onto them, it sits too far forward of that mounting spot... I'll order that kit from FMF, thanks!
  11. Question here. I bought a set of FMF Gold Series Fatty pipes & silencers off ebay, got a good deal on them, but problem is they didnt really come with anything but the silencers, and pipes. I'm pretty sure that large hole on the silencer mount is supposed to have some kind of rubber bushing or something? Also when I mount the silencer temporarily, it seems the main pipes sit too far forward? Confused... lol. Where can I get replacement parts? Like the rubber bushings?
  12. I'll take the underbody skidplate, if you can do that price shipped, can pay you this coming thursday. My shipping zip would be 56649.
  13. Bore it out 4.080 over, you'll be shreddin tires in no time.
  14. I'll measure the cylinders next week then, I need to have them bored to .080 over now so its goona be awhile before I get the new pistons, gotta send these ones back.
  15. Ahhh I see. Well the cylinders are finally getting bored today, after that I'm probably just goona slap them onto the lowerend and just run with what I got, not like I can really do anything about it if I dont like it, besides buy new cylinders. Say they are ported for dune riding, or like a dune drag port or whatever, how would that perform as far as long straight trails, and stuff like that? As long as it makes power in the mid-high range, I'll be happy. If i wanted low end power, I would have gone with a 4stroke or something, haha. Not very often when I'm on dirtbikes am I just feather the throttle or keeping the rpms low, its either pinned or im coasting, lol. Thanks for the help, this is turning out to be quite the project lol, never done anything like this before, gotta start somewhere I guess.
  16. Lets say they are that south beach style, think I would like that better then stockers, non ported? I do like top end power, mid range too, dont care about low end... its a 2stroke! haha
  17. Just found out the cylinders were ported in Miami.... if that helps!
  18. Got the box today, everything looks perfect, LOVE that asv lever.
  19. These are the used cylinders I got with my banshee, they are .030 currently, and going to be bored to .050 to match my new wiseco prolite pistons. No clue who did the porting on these, I dont plan on racing mx or anything like that, just some trail riding, probably do dirt drags against other quads, bikes, etc, and just screw around town with it.
  20. How did the engine go from being fully rebuilt top to bottom, to a blown up engine top to bottom?
  21. Awesome, cant wait! Thanks again.
  22. Looks really similar to my jugs that I got with my banshee, they were ported by some unknown company down on the coast somewhere in california or something. They even have the same handwriting on the bottom of the intake ports! I'll snap some pics if I ever get them back from the machine shop thats boring them out for me, they've had them for almost 2 weeks now.
  23. I dont really have any clue who did the porting, the cylinders do have numbers ground under the intake ports though. Elevation is in the OP, and I weigh 200lbs. I have a jet kit coming with all the jet sizes I'll ever need, and pilot jets. Yea I'll probably just get that single filter adapter plate, and run one of those too then.
  24. Just double checking, was my stuff shipped out?
