  1. if you have a hole through the piston, make sure and clean out the lower end. i would split the cases and check the bearings to make sure there is not grit and shit in them. if ya didn't ya might be wasting your money, but i sure ya thought of that..
  2. Did you try to run it with the NGK R plugs? i was told the r is for resistor and helps prevent these problems.. never tried it but might be worth a look, they are more pricey around here though.
  3. It's not to extreme on the port job, it isn't drag ported, more like a dune/play with just a touch more, but may still take them back and get extra boost ports on the intake side cut in.... i believe i will stick with my set up, or buy the long rod crank and then a new set of pistons that will fit my cylinders, i like the sound of less friction and longivity.... thanks for the pointers... any other input greatly appreciated, thanks guys
  4. does the paint on the cylinders not hold the heat in? i realize that they do have a coatin from factory, but i jsut figured the more tickness ya add the to paint, the more heat it is goin to keep in the cylinders. it might not be a big factor.... just curious...??
  5. ok well i am in a rebuild, i haven't even finished and there are just too many desisions lol the set up i have got so far ( not even assembled yet) is a trued and welded crank, very aggressive port, and bored to 65. ( to clean up mess i made  ) A offer has crossed me today of fresh bored cylinders 64. , with pistons ( can't remeber series) they for the long rod, with a hot rods long rod crank that is also welded, with a little porting. so what will i gain from a long rod setup? i want a pretty dependable quad , but i not affaid to work on it, money just gets tight some times, i spent the money for a good port job but which is the better bang for buck? i can get more port work that not the problem, just more money... any imput is greatly appreciated cuz i need to let him know soon... i have a cool head with 21 domes and new adjustable stator plate/ stator, with new flywheel that is goin on which ever one.... thanks
  6. Thats why ya put oil in your gas bro... gotta keep that bottom end lubed up, crank bearings, rod bearings ect....
  7. well carbs were damn close, (if they were off). and the jets weren't clogged or anything, i took that all apart, (shee striped)
  8. too late for the test it's all torn down but i am lookin for the problem..... not to many more things it could be.
  9. i recently blew up my motor, i had herd on another post that a leaky crank seal on the stator side wcould cause this, and yes i agree if it leaked it would run extremely lean... i was just curious to wheather this happened quite often because i am rebuilding and stickin money into it and haven't found the problem yet, i had a hole burnt though the piston, on the exhaust side. It got very hot and was even cracking it. But yet the other piston (clutch side) looks fine, (normal wear) my boots appear to not have an cracks that went all the way though ( replacing anyway) my jets are the same on both sides, reeds aren't cracked or chiped, just a lil comfused..... thanks
  10. yes the guy who did my port work had a set sittin there that he had done that too. looked pretty crazy..
  11. i have a cool head that i just picked up and gonna put on the bike, i do believe everything needs to be pretty flush, i just ran down and looked at it and my dome might sit just a hair ( litteraly like a hair) above the rest of it, they are flush to the feel though. i didn't try pressing them in so i sure they will be when i clean it up and put it in. If they aren't i could deffantly see some potential leakage.
  12. sound kinda like an air leak bud, i had kinda the same issue, when i would let off the throttle the motor would hang and keep at the high r's. i fixed the air leak ( for got to tighten intake boot clamp) and syned the carbs while i was at it and it was fixed. those intake boots are from what i hear pretty notorious for crackin and ya really need to check em out.
  13. yep tried it on my street bike. worked fine, make sure and prep it right and sray nice light coats, it kinda wanted to run on me. if you have any old plastice i would try it on there first and see how it looks and holds up....
  14. i don't know but says he did it all and mainly checked fences and cows with it but ill see how she runs and rides, thanks guys
  15. if ya want to get into it, you could relocate where you shocks mount to your frame or make new ones but that lil more permanant.
  16. well i gettin it for nothin really, i have a 94 street bike which is stuck in first gear, he is willing to trade, probly not to bad of thrashin but i didn't know if it would hold up...
  17. ok well i am currently buildin my banshee and it looks likt it is goin to take all winter at this rate. it is kikkin me watching all my buddies ride so i am thinkin getin a toy to thrash around, it is a blaster that has a honda elsinor cr250r motor in it, it is running and finshed..... the motor being an 81, i don't have much knowledge of it.. if anyone had/has one and can shine some light on wheater it is worth my while, and is that the elecrtra sleeved cylinder??? thanks for any info.
  18. That looks pretty slick,, but probably to heavy for my style..
  19. Silkolene by fuchs all the way! 32:1
  20. the right side is set.... did you look at the window to the left side? They both have to be in the window at the same time, or pretty close.
  21. Are the Carbs syned close?
  22. hey did you take your stator cover off since power washing it? my stator seal was leaky and it always ran like shit after washing, and moister would stay in that cover for a while, and made my fly wheel look terrible with rust and recently pulled the fly wheel and you would not believe the rust. check your pick ups and the fly wheel, is your " cold' getting fire? doesn't sound like it.....
  23. i am doin the same, my clutch was slipping and i just blew up my motor, so, any imput would appreciate by both of us......got the motor part figured out but what is a good clutch, i was thin about just goin with a dirt digger clutch... anygood?
  24. yea i want to run pump gas, i am rebuilding it and the top end will be new.. so no i wouldn't need one.. the head has 21's so it should work out good.
  25. a local builder is doin my port work, he ports and does motor work/ building, as for the carb i am unaware of where i should go with them, i would go with maybe a lil bigger carb but, money is an object, and i could probly find some for a good used one though some of the local draggers, just don't know what size to look for. my elevation is about 800ft. i will probly start with the 21cc domes just cus they are in the head and i get get it for a hell of a deal, but ya don't think 19 with raise my compression too much, for my stock crank and rods?
