ok so since i bought this shee ive been dealing with the damn clutch creeping when it gets warm....ive adjusted the clutch a few times, both with the cable and with the pancake bearing. I got the grooves out of the basket thinking maybe that was my problem. I also put a new tusk clutch kit in it that now only has about 5hrs total on it but it had hot spots on the steel plates. Ive looked at both the inner and outer hubs and they seem to look OK. I can not get it to stop doing this shit. What do you guys think i should do? Im thinking about calling fast tommarow and ordering a new inner and outer clutch hub as well as there clutch kit and buying a new clutch cable since i have all that shit taken off now. Im willing to spend the money to fix the problem but i dont feel like throwing good money after bad to try and fix a problem that i cant seem to find out what it is. After buying and installing these parts i should be golden right? or is there something else that could be causing this that im just overlooking....thanks alot guys

good, you got me worried when you said something about shattering it.lol

hey guys my basket had some grooves so my dad milled down the grooves....he only took off .012...just enough so it was smooth. It wouldnt be any different than running it with the grooves but now its smooth so do you think i would have to worry about shattering it b/c of the play or will i be fine. I dont think its any different....thanks

damn bro you tell us $600 and on ebay you want $475 buy it now? -
what do you mean custom setup?....and also i only had .012 taken off of the basket, just enough to get rid of the grooves. It wouldnt be much different than running it with the grooves b/c it had the same amount of play except now its smooth right?.....Are you supposed to run that o-ring that goes on before the first friction plate? or no...because last time i adjusted it tore that o-ring all to hell....i am starting to get pist no matter what i do i cant get this damn thing right. Ive heared mixed answers about billet baskets, are they worth a shit or are stockers better...i want to buy one but i dont feel like getting one if i wont benifit from it and if a stock one is actually better. are some better than others...let me know thanks...oh do i have to have that o-ring that is on the back side of the basket b/c mine doesnt have it on there.

oh,,,i went by the manual 2 times now and its still not working so i think im going to try what you said. Yes i adjusted my clutch cable also, i think i need a new one to b/c its streched all to hell

i adjusted my clutch again after having my basket milled to get rid of the grooves and it still wants to creep when i pull in the clutch and rev it...what the hell im sure i did it correct this time. I pushed on the clutch arm then tightned the pancake bearing screw untill the two arrows aligned up and tightened down the locknut....

i didnt do it lol....the jackass before me did it. When i do stuff it has to be perfect i hate half ass stuff thats why 75% of my shee is new stuff......beater?

ive heared alot of good things about haulers but for me there not what i want...i do alot of dicking around and some drags and actually if my damn shee would shift into 4th i would have done ALOT better. For v-paddles my shee was pretty damn competive. My paddles seemed to hook up and throw alot more sand than some of the straight paddles i saw up there on saturday. Trust me i am not dissing straight paddles, they work amazing for what they are designed for and the v's work amazing for what there designed for. If i was more into dragging and hillshooting i would buy me a set of skats but i do very little dragging and these paddles hook up more than enough for me to climb any hill at silver lake

what is your compression at? mine before break in with a milled head only had 120 now it has about 132...make sure your pilots are clean and both carbs are in sync...what clip is your needle on?
-
i kinda would rather get something to measure the two gaps since it is all apart anywase but i know what you mean
-
im picking up my shift shaft elliptical bolt and i was wondering how you guys adjust it to get it to get the perfect spacing in between the two "paws" that go on the shift star. I was thinking maybe a feeler guage but those are to small....any ideas would be great...thanks

top and bottom end or just top? i assume you already cleaned out the carbs and put fresh gas in, checked spark, and make sure the gas is making it into the carbs. give that a try...

Jetting For Silverlake Michigan
bansheejoel replied to banshee freak's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
thats seems extremly low to me to unless your 3000+ above sea level...i was just at silver lake last weekend..mine is ported, pipes, pods, milled head, and as of right now i have 380 mains, 25pilot and my needle is on the 3rd clip from the bottom. With the weather warming up in the summer i will be putting 360's in...if it were me...i would start with a 360main you can always put in smaller ones if your to rich rather than being to lean and buring it up. Just buy a couple of sets before you leave...360's 350's should be about perfect. The elevation there is about 600 -
yeah there like 150-200 but i dont have that much burning a hole in my pocket yet, i will buy one next winter i just need to know if grooves will cause the hot spots or is that b/c i didnt have my clutch adjusted right....thanks
-
i sure hope thats not her log......
-
is it common to have hot spots on the steel plates or is that because of something else?
-
well i finally got my clutch basket off to adjust the shift shaft and found some hot spots on on the steel plates, only 3 had hot spots and they were only about 1 inch long...is that normal for a clutch only having 5 hours on it? Could it be that the grooves in my basket arnt letting the plates slide freely if so is there a way to fix it? and the bracket with the two teeth that goes on the shift star, should that be able to wiggle back and forth a little? thanks for all of your help guys!
