Hi Everyone,
This is my first post, I've been reading around here for a few weeks, now I think it is time to get my feet wet. I just purchased a 98 shee as a project, everything is just about finished, tors removal, twist grip installed, rejetted, new chain, etc... So far so good, but the shifter doesn't ratchet up and down like it should. I can shift fine, but the shifter doesn't return to center after you shift. Not so much a problem when you're upshifting, gravity takes care of it, but when I down shift, I have to slip my toe under the shifter a hair, then downshift again to get it to go to the next lower gear. It looks like there are two springs associated with the shifter from the parts diagrams I've seen. Is this going to be the spring on the inside near the shift lever or the outside at on the clutch side? Just wanting to know how far I'm gonna have to go when I open her up. I hope it is just the spring, and not the lever or something else broken. I've read about the shift pro mod with the new arm, ball, and spring. Will this kit take care of my problem, or does it sound like something else is broken? Thanks for any input you guys may have. Richard G in North Carolina.
