Did it have spark before you put the new timing plate on?
If so it should have spark now, look the stator over for loose solder joints(loose wires).
Clymer manual stator specs,
Lighting coil resistance, yellow to black=0.26-0.38ohms
pickup coil resistance, white/red to white/green=94-140ohms
charging coil resistance, green to red=13.7-20.5ohms
Get your multi meter out and see what you got.
