I broke my stock upper arms jumping (see thread in mods section) and I need to pick up some new arms ASAP so I can make it to the dunes as planned. I only want to spend 450 or less but I don't want to get a POS that's going to break like the stockers did. I'd love to have the $$$ to fork out for some Quicksands but I can't afford it, nor do I think I'm "serious" enough of a rider to need them. I've searched about all of these and pretty much found contradictory info about most all of them. So far, I've found: FULLFLIGHT RACING heard good and bad about these LINK Pro Star/American Star heard good and bad about these LINK Pro Star/American Star Plus heard good and bad about these LINK Armadillo Rocky Mountain ATV sells these which makes me think they are good arms LINK WICKED PRODUCTS Man these are nice looking...I want them just for the color. LINK If you know of any others in or near my price range, I'm all ears. Which of these would you guys prefer if you were in my situation???

Depends on what they are and what kind of condition they are in...I'd obviously pay more for Quicksands than some Pro Stars or something...Let me know what you have...
-
I think the lowering blocks will make the springs interfere with the upper arm...
-
I did some searching and all I found was "they are a POS"...didn't find anything good about them... +2 tierods can be found everywhere...
-
As stated, I'm looking for some good used +2 a arms, I just broke my stockers and can't afford to get a new set and hate to go with another set of stockers that I'll just break again...thanks.

I was going over a small jump that throws me about 20 feet in length and 3-4 feet high...after about the 10th jump I heard a loud snap...I looked down and my wheel was flopping around and the upper a-arm was broke. I set the arm back in place and limped it back home about a mile... I was planning on a trip to Little Sahara in the next week or two...now I need to figure out what I'm going to do about this arm so I can still make it. I could weld it no problem but I have a feeling it will just break again if I do that. Worse case scenerio I may weld it and put a bunch of extra gussets on it to make it strong (and ugly) just to make the trip. What do you think, should I buy some +2 arms or should I just pick up a set of used stockers? Who makes some good budget aftermarket arms that I can get asap? Anybody got any used aftermarket arms they'd be willing to let go of for a fair price? Here are a few pics of the break:

From the dyno runs I've seen, they fatties will make more power in the low to mid range and within 1-2hp of the T5's up top...they are probably better for how you ride.

Anyone planning on making another trip
Stinger replied to stclark816's topic in Riding and Events Forum
I'm looking at heading down in the next 2 or 3 weeks...I gotta get all my buddies shit running first though 250 KTM lost the trans, 250R keeps breaking spark plugs, Tecate trans is torn apart... At least the 'Shee is runnin' strong! -
Because they are the exact same plug performance wise, only they are cheaper...and I don't have a radio on my shee so I don't care...

Have you even done this? Do you realize some people can't afford to spend 1000+ on Elkas and such? To answer your questions, my ride was much softer than stock when I first installed them (had all adjustments all the way soft). Now that I've been hitting some pretty big jumps, I've been adjusting them stiffer and stiffer. Now they are set where they ride about the same as stock but don't bottom out as easy as the stockers. Also, I ride the shit out of my Shee 2-3 times a week and they haven't faded yet...I don't know where squish is getting his info.

Mud Bog/ Mud Drag Race...anybody do them?
Stinger replied to Stinger's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Well, to get ready for the mud bog I put the stock airbox and proflow setup back onto the shee, duct taped up any possible areas for water to leak into the airbox, and bolted on the paddles tires. During the driver's meeting, they told us the pit was 130 feet long and started ~2" deep and gradually went to a final depth of 20-24". They said they had 16,000 gallons of water in it. When I initially looked at the pit, it looked like the mud was pretty thick...that's just what I was hoping for, something I could get on top of and haul ass to the other end. I was the second guy to run. The first guy was on a Baja, he went about 25 feet and got stuck. I rolled up to the line, put it in second, leaned forward, pinned it, and slipped the clutch to keep from going over backwards. I quickly realized that they were full of shit about it only being 2" deep at the start. As soon as I rolled past the start line my front tires dropped into about 8" of sloppy mud. I went about 10 feet and it started slowing down (not what I planned, I started to get worried), I leaned back as far as I could and left it pinned...it then proceeded to hold about 2mph for the next 100 feet. It didn't accelerate, slow down, nothing...just plowed through the mud like a damn utility. When I got to the real deep stuff (more like 30 inches, not 20) it finally lost traction with the bottom of the pit and failed to move forward any farther...I'd made it 107 feet. Up to that point, the only thing that was muddy was my feet. The moment I got off the throttle, the paddles dropped about 3 gallons of mud soup all over me... When I got back to the pits, this is what the shee looked like: There were 7 more competitors in the 2wd paddle tire class. Nobody in the next 6 did better than 102 feet (Predator). The last one up was my 14 year old Step Brother on his 250R that I spent all weekend tuning and such to get him ready for the bog. I gave him some pointers (what line to take, what gear to run in, lean back, etc.) and the peckerhead proceeded to go 111 feet...4 feet farther than me I came home with 50 bux, he came home with 100. Here is a better pic of what the pit looked like. The truck is at about 80 feet so where I got stuck was another 37 feet down the pit...and about 10" deeper. We finished up with a little mud wrestling...probably the best entertainment of the day -

Well, I brought home some money...took some pics as well, should I post them? -
No, when I bought it, one wheel had negative camber, I looked all over the suspension and couldn't find the problem. I replaced the bushings figuring that would fix it...nope. Then, a few weeks later I was riding a wheelie and it landed on the grab bar and I rode it until I was almost stopped...let go and it fell over, bending my upper arm the other side...when I bent it back, I made them even instead of going all the way back to stock

You should click on the " How To Install YFZ450 Shocks On Your Banshee..., What it takes, mods needed, pics, etc..." post...I bet it will tell you all about it

What kind of racing?
-
Same here, I'll ride around my house or my shop almost every day. Most of the time it's only for 15-30 minutes though. About 1-2 times a week I'll go for a 1-3 hour ride at one of the local riding areas. About 4 times a year I'll make a trip to ride at Little Sahara or Milford Lake.

There is a "mud bog" at the local county fair next week and I was thinking about doing it since I learned that there is an ATV class...mostly it will be a bunch of utility 4x4's trying to plow through the mud. My idea is to bolt on my paddles, launch in second, and hope I can skim across the top. From what I hear, the mud is normally pretty deep (like above the knees). The only problem with that idea is I don't know how much of a run I get at the mud...if I only get a few feet it may not work worth a shit. Also, should I build a cover to go around my K&N filters so they don't get soaked? I know if I splash through water it will ingest water and run like crap. How about building a skid plate along the bottom of the shee just for the race...use a light plastic or something? Think it would be worth it? Anybody do these kind of races? Anybody have any luck?

I've been 81 with stock gearing according to my GPS. I've also done it on the road next to two different vehicles and they both said ~80mph. That's absolutely all it's got in it though as I was in 6th for probably 30+ seconds. My knobby tires do pretty good on pavement...no bad shakes UNLESS I have even a little mud in my wheels...then it's a rattle trap.

Awesome, I found the latest vid from loco to watch. I couldn't view any of his other hillclimb or 600RR vids because they where all hosted by dominator or something. Loco, any chance of rehosting your other vids with gigashare? -
After riding my step-bro's 250R, I noticed that my Shee is WAY harder to turn the handlebars on ground that has good traction (grass, pavement, wet dirt, etc.) and that is why I always get tired when trail riding. (I'm a small dude). Is there a way to adjust the alignment or anything to make it easier to steer? I'm going to guess there isn't unless you buy fully adjustable arms correct?

Anybody have any pics of this hill? I'd love to plan a trip down there some time but I'd like to see the hill and such before making the trip. Thanks. -
Drained OIl, Looks Metallic...Do I need to worry?
Stinger replied to Stinger's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Well, I agree, I should have changed it more. It was one of those "I need to change my oil pretty soon" things that I just never got around to doing. I'll definately change it more, it just shocked me when it was so metallic looking...I'm still not sure if I like that. -

I drained the oil out of my transmission and the oil had a metallic look to it. Tiny little shiny specs in it. I've ran about 20 gallons of fuel through it since the last oil change. Is this normal for that amount of time on the oil or is something about ready to eat itself?
