I Still Have That Rz Tranny, But Now Im Thinkin'..
banshee370 replied to Meat's topic in Swap and Trade
Meat: We could always meet somewhere 1/2 way... I know I am about 3 hrs from Palmerton..... May be worth it... if not I'll give my boys @ K&K a call to see what it would cost to ship. The front end is in good shape. It's only the few small areas I mentioned. I'll get some pics today and let ya know. -
I have a pair of cases I would part with.... They have been welded from throwing a chain... I also have a set of RZ cases... Will you go 75.00 for a matched set??

I think what they may mean is what I recommend on my site. Besides cutting off every other dog/bridge you can also "back cut" the bridges and dogs so they are angled. So that when the gears mesh the angle is actually draw them together tighter. I do know from past experiences that too much of an angle can cause shifting problems roostfest.com -cut gear info

Meat: I think what you see is just a notch in the gear. It's nothing that I would worry about because if it was damage then you would see marks from something hitting it. If your interested in the frame let me know. I never made it to the garage this weekend but I can get pics for you if need be. -
Raxen: Can you explain what you mean a little better? Where did you hear about it and how was it explained to you? I think I know what you mean but I dont want to confuse things anymore than they need to be.

If were going to add members of this board then I want to add my 2cents here.... I've delt w/ NYUK, Cotton Eyed Joe, Tungsten, Screamin Banshee, Iridea250R, Quick/Jer, Banchetta, Chase73, Backcountry, D34, H300F, Meat... I know there are more but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I've had nothing but good deals with them and I would not hesitate to deal w/ them again. Anyone else want to make a members list of who you've delt with??

Dragg-on: The only thing I know about "straight cut" gear is the drive gear on the clutch basket. You can run the normal Helical (comes standard on the banshee) Or I believe Hinson has a straight cut gear. It takes the side load off the main bearing and less hp loss. Now if you want your banshee to shift 100 times better but still be able to trail ride it... then you want to cut the dogs and bridges on the gears. Once you cut your tranny for an over ride then its basicly for drag racing only.

K&K atv just parted out a complete 01 banshee. Some of the parts are on ebay here Most of it hasnt been listed yet but the whole bike is now in parts. I know the frame is MINT and they are asking 500.00 for that... Contact them here

I'm going to have to add K&K atv here. I may be biased but here goes anyways. They have a HUGE inventory that caters to all the new sport quads. Good people and fast shipping....

Meat: Condition of the frame: One headlight bracket is a little bent up, but easily fixable in a matter of 5 minutes. The upper loop for the steering stem has very minor cracks that JUST started. I removed the gas tank very easy so its not bent back. There are no other cracks that I know of. The rear seat latch area is a little weird. It is a little bent but I dont think its from a crash. That too is also very fixable. The footpeg holes are in good shape and no cracks/welds by the swingarm pivot. All the correct bolts came out of this thing when I tore it down and nothing came out cockeyed. If you need a kick lever I think I have one or two lying around... You can have them. PS; I have 3 or 4 stock banshee heads... if you need one lemme know and I can throw them in too -
Either the link in my signature or here K&K atv or you can call them today between 9am and 2pm eastern time 1-413-323-7044. Good luck

K&K atv has 2 sets of gears from 2000 banshees that were just parted out... 150.00 a set and they are in good shape.

Wicked: I'm not saying your wrong... but a banshee comes w/ 6 gears... Can you run your shee all the way to the top of 6th w/ that gearing and those paddles? You do have to remember that he will be running up Olds/Comp/China wall. I would be willing to bet your banshee would not be able to pull 5th on China wall.... The sand out at Glamis is very soft at the bottoms of most hills... Jason: I would start w/ a 13t front, I think that may be the ticket for you.
-
Jason: I dont know what you weigh but I think 10 paddle haulers will be too much for your motor. The +6 is great for the hill.... but you many not like it for duning. I've since sold my +6 and went to a +4 so I could dune more. You may want to keep the +4 for now and maybe get a set of 9 paddle haulers. I'm sure you would be able to sell either one to step up to more paddles/longer swingarm, but you can always see if you like what you have first. Something that has been left out on this topic is torque. If your bike can pull the taller gearing then thats where I would start. You can have 100hp but if you dont have enough torque you wont be able to get yourself out of the hole or pull the hill with enough speed. I had a 370lr that dynoed around mid 70's hp. I ran 8 paddle haulers w/ stock gearing and a stock swingarm. I was happy at the time w/ its performance but as always I wanted more. Gearing is something you will have to play with to get the power where you want it. The only trailer my machine sees is to get it to the dunes... Just remember Going up one tooth on the front sprocket is like going down three in the rear. Taller gearing will gain you more top speed and can help lessen wheel spin. To gear down you want to go up on the rear sprocket or down in the front. That will put your power down low and hurt top end. I would stay away from anything smaller than a 12t front sprocket. The sprocket is so small that it will make the chain bind some dune to stress. You will wear out the chain and frt sprocket faster than normal. Hope this helps.

Lookin For A Few Parts
banshee370 replied to crashed_hella_hard's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I have 2 sets of lower a-arms, 1 set of upper atvracing upper a-arms w/ heims and replaceable balljoints, and an axle off of a 2000 banshee. make an offer -
Sean: I dont run a 370 anymore. I now run a drag ported 350. Ive never been to Dumont yet, so I cant say. I can say that I can pull much taller gearing w/ my 350 than I would have ever thought of with my 370. The last time I had my shee at Glamis I still had my 370 motor... I was able to let off the throttle and coast the rest of the way up Comp (at 3/4 hill) With my 350 I was able to pull 6th gear easily at Little Sahara Oklahoma, something I know I wouldnt have been able to do w/ my 370 and 10 paddle haulers.
-
With my current porting I run a 16/42 gear ratio w/ 21x12x8 10 paddle haulers. I will be trying a 17t front when I get out to Dumont in March. Gearing will also very depending on the tires you run. If you overpaddle for your motor you will have to gear down... and vise-versa if you under paddle. How does your bike pull now? What kind of paddles are you running? How many paddles? Give us some more info and Im sure we can get you in the right direction.

I had 2 sets... I just sold the set of aluminum ones... I had a set of graydons (steel) make an offer

Jay: Why does he need to be from west virgina? What would you do if you didnt have a bead breaker and you wanted to ride on a sunday after all the shops are closed? I have used the 2x4 trick many times... It has worked for me everytime. I call it being resourcefull.
-
Yea NYUK.. what would you charge me to chrome MY side cover? I wanna get me some Bling Bling Yo~ Will you cut me a deal homie??
-
Good Luck! They are VERY VERY hard to find... I had 2 sets I sold and I kick myself for selling the last set. From what I have seen Ebay is the best place to find them. Dont bother trying to call any Yamaha dealers.. All they will sell you is a banshee fork/drum. Keep hunting and I am sure you will find some.

Sheesh D34........ I know I was a lil tired lastnight.... I just didnt realize I was blind too In your other post you mentioned 29, 8, 10. I musted transposed it in my head..... I'll clean up that pic tonight and highlight the gears and the shims.
-
D34: I edited the pic but I didnt see item #28. I will re-edit the image stating to move the other shims tomorrow night. Its not your fault you couldnt post the image... You would need to have known the image file name anyways. I had a friend ride my shee this weekend... he is 100% honda lover... (he hated banshees until yesterday. When he got off of it he said its the best shifting banshee he has ever ridden... he also wished his shifted as nice. Take that you Honda freeks Let me know how things work out... Im interested to see what you think of everything when you and H300f get your trannys back together.
