Do you have spark?

you shouldnt have touched that side of the stator windings, only the lighting side. Assuming you put everything back correctly, if so, try putting the new ground, to an eng. Bolt, to see if that'll make it spark.

How you can you tell if you have spark? Could connecting the wire harness incorrectly to the battery have something to do with it? Or is that just for your lights? I also disconnected the cdi, idk if that has anything to do with it either

If you did it correctly it has nothing to do with anything but lighting/new battery stuff. did you plug cdi I back in. Take your plug wire with a plug in it & have someone kick it over while holding it against a ground source, you might have to kick it pretty hard to see it
