iTeach
Hey Guys, I want to change the bearings in my swing arm. I was looking at the OEM diagram on Motorsport, and I saw that inside the swing arm there’s suppose to be a long tube along with two bearings on opposite ends, which I understand. My question is, is there suppose to be an oil seal inside the swing arm right after the bearings? There usually is an oil seal right on top of bearings, thats mechanics 101, so no dirt or water gets into the bearing. Let me know what you guy think, and here’s the diagram I was looking at. https://www.motosport.com/oem-parts/yamaha/2000/banshee/rear-arm
kyle101roppe
Yes there is a cap with a washer and seal inside that will sit on the outsides of the bearings. be carful when installing bearings and grease well, these are needle bearings can be a pain in the ass and if not done right will wear out fast
kyle101roppe
but no there is no seal inside because you got 2 seals on the outsides of the pipe keeping dust and dirt out
iTeach
gotchya, so inside of the end caps there should be a washer and a seal? The only thing actually inside of the swing arm is that metal tube, and the two needle bearing on opposite ends. Correct me if I’m wrong.
