New OEM plastic back in stock!

In my quest for trying to obtain OEM red fenders from a 2007, I stumbled upon the discovery that Yamaha is producing about half of the old 90s color fenders.  I turned to the red (RTR) fenders from a 2007 because they are the same as the 99 model red (RTR).  I've checked 95, 98, 99 model fenders on OEM parts finders over the years to see them say discontinued, not shipping, or blank.  I noticed you could only get blue, white, black, and the 06 50th yellow.

So, to get an old part number for comparison, I pull up the 99 red and see that the rear fenders have an updated part number and are available for ordering.  The fronts are an old part number and say not shipping.  Started checking other 90s models and you get all the old colors, but usually it's either the front or the rear, hardly both.  What gives Yamaha?  I'm excited they are producing again (unlike Honda), but we need whole sets of fenders.  I put a call in to Yamaha corporate and talked to a parts specialist about looking into the supply chain.  Maybe he can find out if they plan to produce the missing fenders to complete the sets.

On a side note, I recently saw OEM radiator covers listed on parts finders for $370.  I also noticed a trend in ebay sellers wanting $100 for them used.  I'm happy to report I just ordered a black one for $70.  Supply and demand maybe?

I went ahead and ordered the 99 red rears because who knows when or if I'll ever be able to get them again.  I've got a lead on an in-stock set of 07 red fronts in Puerto Rico, haha.  See my other thread.

Thanks for the tip.  I've talked with Tony, the manager, and Carlos, the parts guy, at MotorSport in Guaynabo, PR.  Right now, they look like my best option for getting the fronts.  Online shipping estimate looks like at least $100 to get them to me.  Got tired of messing with it and almost bought a red 96 from a member 2 weeks ago. Missed it by a day.  I have the new rear fenders in the box.  Haven't even pulled the paper wrap off them.  We'll see what happens.

I've been looking for a set of purple rears for my '95, but haven't been able to find them on any of the online sites like MRcycles or bikebandit.  Went to the dealership and they say discontinued.  I'm concerned that even though they show on Rocky Mountain that I'll pay for them and weeks or months later I'll get an email and be told they're discontinued and eventually be refunded.  The factory color scheme was one of the selling points for me buying this banshee.  Are you able to verify through your contacts if the '95 purple rears are in fact being reproduced?  I'd greatly appreciate it.

i have been searching for those fenders since 2009ish. Before i even had a banshee. Called yamaha and they said they stopped making them in the early 2000s. Best bet to find these is in an old yamaha dealerships inventory stashed away on the shelf

Yep, just contacted Rocky Mountain thinking I might be in luck since they show the rears on their site.  They confirmed the fenders are discontinued and can't be ordered.  Guess I need to start thinking about a new color combo.

Hi.  Sorry I missed all these posts.  Yes, the 95 says "not shipping" now and from what I've gathered, that means you can't get them. The only old school plastics that Yamaha produced a whole set for are the 94 purple (violet).  I own a 94 and they're kinda girly, my wife rides it.  I got the 99 red (RTR) rears from Rockymountain no problem and did a lot of leg work to score a set of 07 red (RTR) fronts from overseas.  I'll post the pics later.  Now all I need is set of those 2010 replica graphics off ebay in yellow and black.

Here are the 07 fronts and 99 rears.  They are a perfect match.  Unfortunately, my guys shipping the fronts from overseas stuffed them in too small of a box and they got fairly warped.  No stress marks though.  I have been trying to stretch them back out slowly and avoid any stress marks.  I have them on the bike now and am using zip ties to pull them towards the front fenders supports.  I just need a little time, sun, and hot temps.

edit**  Can't get my photobucket links to work.  50kb limit on this site is like an 80s dial up BBS.  Oh well, maybe later

Thanks for the update.  I tried to get the '94 purple also and got the same response from RM.  Discontinued.  Oh well, I'll just do something different.

Broke350, too bad about the purples.  You'll just have to enjoy this for now.  If you have that white 04 in your profile pic, I would pair some black fenders with it.  They would look cool with the red frame.
