Good all around rifle recommendation

Looking for a "do it all ok" style rife. I won't be killing varmints at 1500 yards or hunting bears . Nothing exotic.

Just a dependable, easy to find ammo, won't break the bank, rifle.

May take it deer or wild hog hunting once in a while.

What caliber and brands should I research?

Savage model 110/111 in 30-06.. Can't beat it, awesome trigger, nice stock, smooth bolt, and 30-06 can be loaded heavy for elk or light for antelope.. And anything between.

Poly stock and pretty cheap. I'd also consider a new ruger American in same caliber. But I'm partial to 30-06

I've got a all black Howa 1500 Target Master Package Winchester .243 for sale.

Comes fully loaded with 4-16x44 three turret optics, 6-9" bi-pod, ATI detachable 10 rnd mag, bore snake viper cleaning rope and a padded plastic carrying case.

Howa is a Japanese arms manufacaturer.

They make their own barrels and they make the Weatherby Vanguard barrels.

If you're interested, PM me, I'll make you a sweet deal on this.

BTW, the Win .243 is a necked down cartridge of the .308 Win.

Tons of powder to push a 100gr 6mm bullet to fly flat and fast!

This is the Target Master pacakge. http://legacysports.com/hogue-targetmaster-package

I bought it two years ago from Buds Guns.

It's all black and I believe it's a 24" barrel, if not maybe it's 22" barrel, but it's definitely not a 20" barrel.

My vote would be either a .243 or a .270.

Ammo is always readily available down here and both are pretty versatile calibers.

I've got a Remington 30-06 and it is a freakin HOSS. Most times I don't enjoy shooting it for fun because it feels like my shoulder is going to fall off after 5rds.

I'm a big fan of my ruger gunsite scout

16.5" barrel with a flash hider, 10 round removable magazine (5 rd available), .308

It comes with peep sights but I put a 3-9x40 vx-3 on mine

That's a bad ass little rifle.

But did you know for every 1" shorter than 24" the .308 loses 100ft/sec of velocity?

Plus I don't really care how loose the bolt is on the Gunsite Scout.

Very bad ass, but did you know that the AR 15 platform can shoot the 6.8 SPC?

The 6.8 SPC is a Win .270 bullet in a AR 15 sized cartridge.

At 300 yds the 6.8 SPC hits a target with 80% of the energy a .308 has at 300 yds.

Did you know that this cartridge was developed in the 90's for the military after that "Black Hawk Down" scenario happened in Somalia or whereverthefuck?

The 5.56 x 45 was not very effective taking those drug crazed Africans down that were shooting basically a soft .308 at them.

The AK 47 is a .308 caliber in a cartridge who's brass is only 39mm long.

Heavy bullet ~120-150gr, not much powder, equals a 150-200 yrd street sweeper.

The 5.56 x 45mm long is basically a .219 caliber with a shitload of powder behind it, but it weighs only 65gr.

Half the weight of the 7.92mm x 39mm AK 47 round.

For CQB, you can not beat the stopping power of an AK 47 rnd!!

I have an AR 15 lower that I plan to build into a 6.8 SPC, some day...

I'd rather build my Banshee instead!!

Right on.

Your terrain is close to mine,so I'm sure you know what I'm trying to do.
