KlotzBanshee
I have a ported stock cylinder motor on a stock t&w crank and I think one of the rod bearings went along with a piston on one side. So what is my best option? Replace, Rebuild, Time to go 4 mill??
trickedcarbine
4 mil! What type of port work is on the jugs now? Typically if it's not aggressive you can reconfigure stock stroke porting to work with a 4 mil.
KlotzBanshee
Fast Dune port. They need to be bored. At 64.75 now
KlotzBanshee
Oh, I didn't think you could go to a stroker crank with stock cylinders once they've been ported..?
sheerider11
You usually can. Just call Jeff at fast and ask. There his work, he would know best.
KlotzBanshee
So is it really just not worth buying a new stock stroke crank and doing the top end?
FullThrottle_06'
So is it really just not worth buying a new stock stroke crank and doing the top end? You can do that if you like, but for the money your going to spend on a new stock stroke crank ($400 trued & welded, FAST Racing price) for $50 more you can go to a 4mill crank and gain a lot more power once you have your cylinders ported correctly for the added stroke. sleeper06
You need to leakdown b4 teardown so u can rule out air leak for cause of problem , if it holds air proceed with tear down and inspection
KlotzBanshee
I did a leak down test and it held air all day. It was knocking like a mofo. Pulled it apart to find a scared up piston and cylinder on the right side. And I believe I found the culprit...there was a couple grains of sand in the right side main and pilot jets plugging them. sleeper06
I would leave it ss my guess is it's too far for a 4 mill unless u want a drag port ,call Jeff for sure
KlotzBanshee
Ok, so I talked to Jeff and I am sending my cylinders in. He is going to see what can be done with them and If the transfers are too tall there may be a 4mil Serval in the future
