My buddy had his frame professionally painted and I think mine is just as glossy as his. I think it all depends on what products you are using as well as color. I'm sure a professional paint job could look as good as powdercoat. The biggest reason I went with powdercoat was for the durability. I could have had it pc"d for 50$ more and all i would have done is drop off and pick up. Paint alone was $150 . I did get the hang of using a spray gun though .
