Yes dead center across the piston touching the cylinder wall on each side held in place with a small dab of grease.

Yes, stock Yamaha base and head gaskets.

So did a squish test by laying my solder across the piston and rolling engine over by hand and it measured .080" to big and out of spec. The engine is a fresh build top and bottom with everything new and stock except for the following exceptions. Stock cylinders are a fresh bore and hone to 64.75mm, pistons are Wiseco 513M06475. Base and head gaskets are stock as well as the stock Yamaha head. What is the most effective way to put my squish into something more reasonable like .050"?
