Its bone stock, together, starts after a buncha good kicks and runs pretty good. it could use some fine tuning to the carbs to be perfect but it runs, holds power and doesn't skip a beat... However, the motor definitely needs some real love. It has two tiny leaks on the bottom of the cases where the studs are, as well as more stripped screws throughout the side covers.
That being said, top end rebuild (thinking 64.5 wise), Hot rods bottom end kit and all new gaskets and seals to start as well as a whole engine bolt kit and perhaps some fancy titanium studs because why not right?
Question i have for y'all is this, What else should I/would you address while motor is apart without going too crazy? What sort of preventative stuff should i just take care of now to save me the time later on.
Clutch for sure. Pancake bearing, high flow impeller, shifting mods, and new eccentric screw.
your wanting a striker crank? Driveline cylinder kit is nice for the money.
keep your crank and go 392 also. So many options for you.

Nothing. Bonzi garage on YouTube uses them, he thinks t5s produce more power. Out of all the pipes still being manufactured for a decent price I’d go SLP for low rpm high torque, PC for mid range, shearer for top end. Where do you want your power?

Nice pipe, low to midranges focused, never ran them but from what I found on dyno sheets don’t produce as much mid range power as pro circuits. If your looking for mid range pipes FMF fattys are nice and usually found pretty easily

Stator failure could be the cause of some of your problems. Buy OEM.
DC conversion with JL Engineering battery pack is a nice upgrade, don’t exceed 70 watts.
someone in the wanted section was looking to trade big bore shearers for small bore, I’d jump at it if they’re still available

Good luck with the Paul turners, hard to find them in good shape anymore.
if your looking for that mid range hit look hard at Pro Circuits, and you can still buy new.

Save a ton of money and get either Shearers or CPI instead of handmade pipes.
id go stock cylinder, stock crank (welded) vf4 reeds and 28 pwks.
If your wanting bigger have driveline do the job.

Your float is probably stuck. Buy a carb rebuild kit and set your foot height.

Is your engine ported? Your main is really big, but would think 280-290 if not ported

If it’s not idling up or down your pilot jet is still too big OR you may have an air leak.

Sounds like pilot jet needs to go down a size.

Fireball make real nice long travel j arms and real nice swing arms. Good suspension after that (keep your rear shock it’s great) and as for motor just have it ported and you’ll be fine.
