Who ported itHey I’ve just got my banshee back it is now a 4mil and I’m having problems with power. YFZ 450’s are problems for me and idk why. When dragging from dig in dirt I can leave quicker but they gain on me, which I know should not be happening. Any advice on this.
4 mil long rod
795 wiseco pistons
stock gearing
34 mm carbs
cpi Pipes
cool head
Machines domes.

I personally would find the leak at 1psi over 6 mins. A lot of people will say run it as well, that is borderline imo.Alright so finally had a little time to start on it this afternoon. Built the leakdown tester, bought a hand pump so I didn't kill it with my compressor. Pumped it up to 7lbs and it lost about 4 pounds in 2 minutes. Soaped it up, found a leak on the bottom of the reed on the left side, Tightened that up, pressurized it again, 7lbs and lost about 1.5lbs in 6 minutes. Soaped it up again and realized my tester was leaking slightly. Fixed that, pumped it up again and lost about .75 psi in 6 minutes.
I've read multiple answers on what is acceptable here. 1 psi per minute loss? 1 psi over 6 minutes? Or should it hold 6 psi solid for 6 minutes? I appear to be in an acceptable range now assuming either of the first two are good. But if it has to hold 6 psi without any loss for 6 minutes, then it has to be leaking somewhere on the bottom end inside. So would you guys say I'm good to move forward on testing the other items?

Ive always been told to use the stainless steel woolThere are a few common items guys will use to pack them. Lots of folks are using fiber glass insulation. It’s short lived, but quiet and cheap. Then there is the actual Two stroke fiber packing, it’s quiet, sounds ok, and lives a long life, but it’s expensive. Then there is good ol’ fashioned steel wool. It’s cheap, sounds awesome, but it can spark and isn’t very quiet.

*if , the leakdown is good. Look for carb leaks and make sure you are using genuine jets, not Chinese. Figure out your needle, make sure the needle seat and your float is good. Clean the whole fuel system thoroughly..Eggs all in one basket. Got it.Sent from my LM-V350 using Tapatalk

Do the leakdown and go from there.Alright, so lets say the leakdown isn't an issue, then what?

If you haven't done a leakdown, anything else you've done doesnt matter

Ive never had that pleasure. I'm picking up a d.i. ktm 250 January , will be my first rodeo with them.2 strokes rules, fact!!!
But working on a direct injection 2 strokes (rotax) is a bitch.

It is a lot less time consuming than a 4 stroke, that is a fact. They're easier to work on than a 4 stroke, also fact.As I said TIME CONSUMING process

Exactly.
I think I speak for everyone here when I say banshees are very simple to work on. BASIC tools are all that's required. You don't even need to be real mechanical, if you can read or remember the steps on reassembly from taking apart that's really all you need.

Oh i know. Besides a blaster a banshee is one of the easiest quads of all time to work on.

Jfc.. You're right, 20 year old 2 stroke quads are the hardest thing EVAR to work on..

All you have to do is look on here for somebody with same mods and elevation, there is jetting for quite literally every engine combo known to banshees on this site. But, that is a waste without a proper leakdown test.

You cant tune it because you likely have an air leak. These things are simpleAnd leak down test will only tell you if you have a leak or not,it won't help you with tunning at all.

Selling this +2 arm i bought about a year ago. I got it for trails but was told by a few reputable people I should sell it to somebody who drags and get something beefier. Made by j&e Josh Dickerson. 300$ obo. Never used, not sure what its worth.

Seem to be picking up the banshee stuff well. Shee doesn't look bad at all, I would have some new domes cut for your head (assuming you still have trinity domes in it) and you will thank yourself for making jetting it much easier.
