1. well I finally got a chance to open it up and the impeller looks fine, its not even a plastic one its metal. It's definably a seal somewhere that is leaking the water out. any easy way of finding the hole? i guess maybe one of those UV light kits for radiator leaks could make this easy...
2. doesnt really smell like gas or exhaust but I wanna check out the water pump. Is there a way to test the pump?
3. Went riding yesterday, didnt push it very hard but by the end it was at 220 F on the temp. When i would turn it off to take a break i would here it sizzlin inside the radiator. I also keep finding myself out of coolant all the time but there is no leak, its like it all shoots out on the pipe from the run off tubes...? I was gonna invest in some wetter water or w.e the coolant additive is called to try and keep the temp down so it doesnt boil out. I feel like there is something else wrong though.
4. I like the twist throttle cuz my thumb always gets tired and it feels more like a bike w/ twist but this shit is dangerous idk how im supposed to safety that.
5. went for a ride today and wrecked my bike bad :/ Just had installed a new handle bar w/ a twist throttle kit so I was playing, getting used to it. Went off a jump and as i came down it was kinda sketchy and when i pulled back it must have twisted the throttle cuz the banshee just revved up and came up. Flipped me off of it and went on tumbling. since ive put that damn twist throttle on I have had so many close calls where i hit the gas by accident trying to pull the brake lever. I landed on my ass and didnt have a scratch on me so i really have nothing to complain about but god damn my poor banshee i was actually too frustrated to call it a day because i pretty much had just gotten there after driving an hour, so i just duct taped my front arm and kept on riding my limp shee. damage assessment: broken A-arm both silencers bent broke the ends off on the back of the frame. plastics are pretty fucked up in the back
6. ya installed a twist throttle kit w/ TORS cancelers, the slides were backwards lol problem solved thanks man!
7. my banshee will barely start and when it does it will randomly rev up in idle. actually when it revs up its like the left cylinder stops firing and then the right just starts revving up then it will just die. All while im just standing next to it watching it idle by itself. The throttle valves are in their bottom idle position and the throttle is untouched. its gotta be something carburetor im thinking but i cant figure it out. any ideas? -Kev
8. Just an update but nothing is really burning in the left cylinder, it will burn sometimes and ill see smoke in high rev. but if i just put my hand behind the left pipe and gas it a lil my hand gets oil/gas spat on it and the left pipe will just be warm to the touch while the other will burn skin. i just changed my plugs and checked for spark but still having trouble.
9. I just installed a twist throttle kit on my bike but it keeps acting weird. When i go riding it will sometimes get stuck and continue to rev even with my hand off the throttle. The thing is when it happens ill take the seat off and see the throttle valves are both sitting down at idle position. The needles are still properly attached to the valves so they close up the jets in idle position so i dont understand why its happening. I also sprayed the carbs and manifold w/ engine start to check for air leaks but i didn't find anything. Its fine when I just start the bike and it will idle fine but when i take it out and warm it up it will start to rev on its own and sometimes just die on idle. any suggestions? -Kev
10. ya were talking about the same thing, wasnt sure what to call them. Ya i figured it was something like that. Thanks for the input!
11. Had to replace one of my intake manifolds so i got one for cheap off this guy on craigslist but it was only until i left that i realized that the flanges were cut off. So i text the guy asking why and he said they are better that way... So Im guessing it was to fit a different reed cage or maybe for porting or something. I haven't install it yet but I wanted to see if anyone else has heard of something like this before? should i take off the other manifold and do the same? or is this guy taking me for a ride and should i just try to get my money back? I mean it was $10 so its really no biggy but still
12. mine does this too and i also have a fresh top end and fresh rebuilt / tuned carbs... I never put much thought into it though because it runs fine
13. yeah i run just with out the lid, so maybe 30 for pilots?
14. 0-150ft 85 degrees stock intake .75 over gold series FMF also checked again and the main jet in there now is 330 not 390 its really hard to read. I also have the needle set to 3rd from the bottom, out of 6. I ended up just using the old main and pilot jet because its better than using these stock sizes and putting the carbs back in today. But, I would still like to try and figure out what would be best for when i have some money/time to get the proper jets.
15. ok got my kits today and opened up the carbs the main jet is 390 and the new one is 200 the pilot jet is 30 and the new one is 25 the pilot air jets are the same 16 Im guessing this is the set up for my pipes, so would i be better off just keeping the old main and pilot jets in and replacing the rest of the hardware that i have in the kit? also i dont think it specified in my book which notch i should put the clip on for the throttle needle. the stock one has only one notch i think and my new ones have 5?
