  1. K guys, here are some more pics of the problem..let me know what you think, I should be getting new pistons and top end kit today or tomorrow.
  2. Here are a couple pictures of my piston while its still in the bike..I looked through the exhaust and intake with a flashlight and so far the piston skirt and cyclinder walls look great, just the hole in the piston. What can you guys tell me? The hole is on the exhaust port side. Heres what my coolhead looked like also.
  3. So I was under the impression if it was an air leak, that would cause a lean condition and my pistons would have siezed or at a minimum had heavy wear marks on the side of the pistons and walls. I was also under the impression that if it had a hole in the top of the piston it was either det or pre-ign. Can someone explain further? Thanks for all of your quick replies! Jon
  4. Also, if I change to wisecos, will I need to buy different domes due to increased compression over the vito powers?
  5. Hey guys, I took my banshee out to the dunes the other day and was runnin WOT when my shee lost power. Pretty much knew it was a hole in the piston from the way it felt, but am not sure what caused it. I have used our search function and it mentions detonation, pre-ignition, lean mixture, etc. My left piston has a hole in the top, with no other damage on the skirts or cylinder walls. Since there was no det sounds, I'm leaning toward pre-ignition. Could my timing be slightly to far advanced (stock cut plate)? My shee has a coolhead, timing plate mod, fmf sst pipes, vitos power pistons, run with 40:1 mix using prem gas and HC1, compression 140, jetting at 330 main, 27.5 pilot, A/S at 1.5 turns out. Please if you have any ideas, I originally thought it was a crankseal leak causing a lean condition, but after reading my piston doesn't look like those, just a hole in the top.
  6. Awesome seller, I bought a set of stock carbs, tors removed for 40 shipped(15 for shipping) and ended up receiving the carbs, knn filters, outerwears and a spare throttle. 100% everything is in great condition, will be watching for other items sold by John
  7. Hey bubba, you still have the vforce reeds? If so let me know where about in oregon you are and maybe i can schedule a way to get em. Thanks
  8. Hey, if you still have the carbs, I want them...been trying to find a pair for forever. Msg me and let me know. Thanks, Jon
  9. Thanks for all your help guys, I went out and tried all of your ideas this weekend to no avail. I decided randomly to pull off my float bowl and connect a hose to the drain and blow through while under water, and that showed it all...aparently at some point in the past, the screws had been screwed in with sand on them which etched the sealing surface. That would be the reason the new screws didnt help. So thanks guys, always nice to know people who know what they are doing are so close!
  10. Thanks guys, Ill check today. Is there any specific way of checking the reeds besides a good visual?
  11. Okay guys, heres the deal...I've searched the heck out of bansheehq and have not found my problem yet. I also have used every banshee rider, family member, atv mechanic I know and everyone is lost. My problem is that my carbs, yes both, leak when I'm on the throttle. It doesn't seem to happen at idle that I can see, but give the bike a little throttle and both carbs start spitting fuel out the drain tube on the bottom of the bowl. The fuel is not coming out the side hoses, just that copper drain on the bottom of the carb. I have done the following to try to fix the problem: 2 new sets of needle and seats, and 2 new sets of the drain screws. I am now certainly positive that it is neither one of those items causing my problem. I have checked and double checked my floats to stock specs, then adjusted them to shut off my needle and seat sooner in an attempt to stop the leaking. This also did not work. As another side note, the fuel seems to slowly bubble or spit at little throttle and increases to a quite steady flow when on the throttle hard. Please give me what you've got guys, I'll take anything as I've got a family ride coming up in 2 weeks that the wife and kids are really looking forward to. Thanks in advance, Jon.
  12. Just an update..did get a compression tester and it was about 120 on each cylinder with stock head, 3000ft elevation, and vitos power pistons(which with the shaved exhaust port might lower my compression a tad..not really sure how that works.) I did however check my pickup gap also and it was running around .028 to .030 so that was a bit off. I placed it at .016 and it seems as though that was my issue. Both cylinders fire now and it runs fairly strong again..now i just have to figure how to tune the single lectron carb. Thank you guys so much for you help, it was nice going riding with my with this last weekend. Thanks again
  13. So i worked on it today, and tried to see if i had good spark..well i was being stupid so the answer is YES..and oh did it shock me. Next i couldnt get my hands on a compression tester yet, but i did happen to put my hand over my exhaust while it was at a high idle...and withing maybe 5 seconds my left hand was covered in oil...and my right hand nothing. Does that mean my crank seal is bad??? Thanks for the continued ideas..still trying to get my hands on a compression tester
  14. Wow....AKheathen you have an incredible point about the gap...I will check that as that makes perfect sense with my problem. Thanks so much for everyones help, ill let you know my compression and the gap status. Thank you
  15. Ok...if my pickup gaps are not correct wouldnt it have the problem on both sides? I will be checking compression in the next couple days. I have checked for air leaks by sprayin all around my intake, etc. I have spark on both plugs and have tried switching my plug wires back and forth, still left side has the prob. I have also bought new caps to see if that was it, and no its not. So I will be checking my compression soon. Thanks for your great ideas, keep them coming and in the meantime, ill check my compression. PS...as far as the carb goes, it is freakin incredible! So easy to adjust once you figure out how to(we have all been trained with the conventional carb style so it takes a bit) I have a feeling I will like it even more once my left cylinder works.. lol Thanks so much again guys, this is really helping as I am tired of banging my head ::
