  1. Sorry guys forgot to add I have Vforce3 reeds and a boost bottle
  2. Hi Guys Please could you advise on the approximate jet, pilot and needle I would need given the engine spec and current temperature here in the UK. Currently the temperature is approx 8 degrees Celsius or in Fahrenheit approximately 47 degrees. Engine and ancillary details Vito's superstock piston .60 over Standard cylinders Vito's Hemi Head (unsure of dome CC) Vito's 4mm stroker crank PJ34 Keihin Carbs K&N single filter in standard air box with lid on FMF Exhaust (Powercore) 0 degree advanced timing but have Ricky stator CDI 98 Octane Fuel Platinum plugs *No porting Any help would be welcomed Thanks in advance
  3. I have a mortgage, mouths to feed and a girlfriend who cant see the fascination in quads and most certainly cant understand the large chunks of money that are coming out of the bank account (just before our wedding in August) to keep this hobby going. Please give advice.
  4. hi there the gas is 97 ron. I am running 58 pilot and 172 Mains but my right piston seized (a right mess) and the other was showing signs of being to lean. please help me with this as I am very new to quads, 2 strokes and banshees Thanks in advance for all your advice
  5. Please look at the pistons and offer me any advice you can think of as I am certainly not a clued up as you guys nor is any one else in the UK it seems. I have had some good advice so far but the more things I check the more reliable it should be and with my intent being to race next year I have a very steep learning curve to follow. Do the spray patterns on the top of the pistons look as if they are caused by an internal water leak? Some people a telling me to get rid a the 2 stroke and buy a 4 but I love the way it sounds and goes (at least when it not in peices) so please, please help me out on this one guys. Thanks Mark
  6. Thanx lowriderb for putting the pictures on for me. So what you guys think? Paul at vito's sail that there may be an internal water leak from the cylinder head gasket that could be washing the oil of the bores. If the tops of the pistons have fine patters of marks (like spray marks) that have caused silver spots (burth off the top of the piston crown) it could be a water problem? I had the crank replaced 3 1/2 months ago when all the seal where replaced, no to say they havent gone again. The crank was fitted by a bike technician that works for the police force. Any comments now you can see the melt down patterns would be welcomed.
  7. Ive have pictures of the pistons but cannot attach or insert them. Perhaps this because they are high res macro pictures. Any idea?
  8. Hi All I had a seized piston on the right cylinder on Saturday for the second time so its rebore time again after only three months. Please can you give me some guidence as to the jet sizes required. I run the shee on 97 octane pump fuel which is readily available in the UK. I mix 32:1 with quality valvoline oil. The tempreture at the moment is around 23 degrees celsius / 75 degrees fahrenheit. The shee is fitted with the following Vitos superstock pistons Vito 4mm Stroker Crank K&N in standard air box (lid on) PJ34's FMF Gold series headers with Power Core 2's Standard Head Any help would be appreciated as these melt downs are costing a fortune not to mention the fact that the cylinders only have one rebore left in them.
  9. Thanks for your replies lowriderb and all The petcock theory makes perfect sence so I will order a upgraded petcock from you suggested supplier. Lowriderb when you talk of bad crank seals ie left gives an air problem and right gives an oil problem are your refering to the cylinder as if you are sat on the shee or from the front of the quad. On Saturday when the piston seized I had noticed a slight leak that was running down the frame and dripping on to the rear of the lower right (as you sit on the quad) a-arm. I assumed it was from the radiator overflow pipe as it was a hot day (80+ degrees F). I lost less than a 1/8 of an inch of coolant all day. Canyncarvr mention the crossover tube on VM26ers (Mukuni's I think) and that made me think of the possibility of the Boost bottle seals being to blame. Any thoughts? Now that the cylinders are off I will replace Head gasket, Base gasket and intake (reed cage) gaskets as well as checking the carb boots. The Cub cylinders sound appealing but I will have to raid the piggy bank and sell all my worldly posessions on eb*y. Thanks for your info so far. Please keep telling me of other possibilties and details of other items that I should check.
  10. Not a nice sight as you'll all agree! Here is a picture of the melted piston along side the unmelted piston. Why only the one side again!!? I will order the upgrade petcock that lowriderb has suggested to eliminate another potential problem. With only one rebore left is it worth getting another set of cylinders either used of ebay or, a re-sleeve or go mental on a 421cc big bore set up from vito's? Remembering I will be using this to compete in MX.
  11. We have had our first real day of sun here in the UK today so it should have been an excellent day quading but again after only six or so outings since my last seized piston it has happend again. (to top it of my Mrs TRX250R seized as well) Only the right piston (as you sit on the quad) has seized with no signs of problems with the left piston. This is the second time this has happened!!! I am running PJ34's which are cleaned after every couple of outings so I am trying my best to keep on top of the maintenance. The piston are vito's super stock, I have a K&N filter and FMF full exhaust system. Oh and the quad is an '05 model. I am mystified why this is happening to the same side time after time. Its becoming annoying to say the least and very expensive to rebuild the top end. I have two rebores left so I can not afford another seizure. Please can some kind soul offer some advice on what is causing these seizures before I have to re-mortgage the house.
  12. Hi guys. I live in the Uk and Vitos sorted me out with a 4mm stroker crank, super stock pistons and correct jetting and I have to say that the power increase is amazing. Paul at Vito's knows his stuff. Highly recommend set up. Im now pulling 70+hp using PJ34's and FMF Fatty's. Need a good head when the money is available.
