    85 Honda 250R suspension question

Who is Rob? Please do not highlight your text in your posts, it is hard on the eyes. On my 85 I put progressive springs in the forks and then I took one of the OEM upper 85 springs and cut it in half. I put those on top of the progressive springs to get a little extra preload, but I race mine in MX. It will make it hard to get the fork caps back on, though. Him being 220 lbs he definitely wants progressive springs and a heavier fork oil than oem. I'd recommend 20 wt. If he wants the best of the best he can get the racetech setup but that is pretty expensive. That +6 swinger needs a heavier valving for sure, at the least, and probably a heavier spring assuming it is OEM.

  3. Tell us about the shocks your coworker has for you. Copy this message and send it to him. What brand and model/stage are the shocks? How long are the shocks eye to eye? What type of riding are they set up for? What weight rider are they set up for? When were they last serviced? An experienced ATV racer will be happy to tell you all of that info. If they shocks will not work with the fireball LT a-arms you may decide not to buy them. If you have to buy LT shocks because your coworker's shocks won't work for you then you may decide to go with a much cheaper standard travel package. Get the details on the shocks before buying a-arms.

Why did you decided on Works? Who do you plan to have service them? Through all of your research I am sure you have seen the company is out of business and it is becoming hard to find parts to service them.

Ttrail tires will wear out out on the track but you don't need them to go practice at a track. Go practice a few times and see if you even like it Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

Axis and Ohlins are excellent shocks. Why do you think you need a -1" swingarm? You asked about 250R geometry? Are you able to afford an entire aftermarket chassis? If you are just racing local then and on a budget just get some standard travel +2 a-arms and good shocks. Get the rear shock revalved. Get some better handlebars (dirtbike bend), a tether kill switch, nerf bars and some MX tires. Spend about $1500 bucks total and start practicing at the track in two weeks. If you can afford to spend $2,500+ on suspension alone, then by all means, get an aftermarket swingarm, LT a-arms and LT shocks.
