I’m looking at building a 4 mil strictly for ice riding and after searching for days, I still haven’t found an accurate answer / suggestion for swingarm length and a good suspension setup.

Being that all posts I found were from 15+ years back, I’m hoping that new light can be shed on this topic.

For those of you riding & racing your Banshee on ice, what is the swingarm and shock / suspension set up that you’ve found to work best?

Also, I absolutely love my ported 421 Cub for the dunes and I’m thinking of going for the same set up on ice. Any input on this?

	TIA!

I see the same issue with the larger quads with much more seasoned riders.

He is able to get loose into the turn but right around the middle to 2/3rds into it he looses the drift and it kicks back in on him. Thinking about taking my set up and doing the easiest swap for 2 races a year for pavement mountain race. Current set up is 4mil heavy trail port with long travel front and +3 rear axle and +2 swing arm. How well will it do swapping in a r6 shock and keeping the +2 length arm. And for front i think the stock shocks with the long travel will lower it enough to match.

Hey all, local dirt track here is having an atv flat track race for the first time in forever, the guy said it's all ages and skill levels just to see the interest in making this a regular thing out there, thinking about running my Shee out there but unsure, it's stock other than pro circuit pipes, and pod filters, I have the original dirt tires on it, but my backs are 22's with not much tread, race is tomorrow night, should I try and find some tires before then and if so what size and what tires do y'all like best that's not a straight flat track tire? Or should I just run it how it is and go slow and see what happens? Thanks guys

So I know the easy answer to my problem, get the holeshot! Now that we got the smart ass part out of the way, my issue...

When I get in behind a group of guys, all of the snow/ice dust is making me lose half of my power. Motor is a 10mm serval. Shearer sb inframes. 35pwk w/ 6" pods (no outerwears).

Normally running egt's around 1200 (I like to play it safe). When I get in the snow cloud and lose power, egt's are around 7-800.

My 2 guesses are snow moisture clogging air filters? Or all that ice hitting the pipes and cooling exhaust too much? Any thoughts or opinions to fix this problem?

You can hear the bike not revving up like it should in the video.

I finally got my suspension setup so I can hook up on our short track that I usually race at, now I'm trying to figure out gearing.

I'm currently running 16/39

Our normal track is about 1/4 mile, I'm using 4-5 gears. It feels decent but I haven't tried much else.

Did 2 races on a 1/3 mile track this year. 5-6 gear. Barely got into 6 before letting off for corners.

This Saturday I'm going to a 1/2 mile track. I ordered a 17t front. Will this be enough or am I going to want more gear on the straights?

Setting a 421 Cheetah Shee I got for ice racing this winter. I have lots of questions. Mainly thought, I'm curious to a no link swinger on one. I have works shocks on this thing (not sure of length in rear). I would like to get a shortened swingarm for it. I have the option of getting a no link setup for a very good price thats shortened 2.5 inches with a roundhouse carrier.

Ive read many posts from long ago that guys have moved their upper shock mount on the rear rearward an inch or two to run a stock shock on linkless swingarm. The bike will most likely only see dirt oval and ice oval. Im just curious if this is a viable option or not, I have no issues with welding on some new tabs and gussets to save a few bucks and being able to use a stock ish rear shock.

Wassup I own a banshee and I'm getting into flat track racing mainly speedway and dirt circuit if no speedway quad classes are on.

The main reason I'm posting this is our rules are very different/gay and possibly different track sizes.

MY LOCAL TRACK: it's a extremely well maintained motorcycle speedway track ie 500cc solos and side cars. Track length is 300 metres(985 feet) width on straights is 13 metres(42 feet) corner width is 15 metres(50 feet). Track surface is a dolomite, crushed granite clay mix. Depending on the race event track maintained every 5 heats/races and each race only consists of 4 quads.

OUR RULES: banshees are not allowed to exceed 350cc, from tyre to tyre max width is 13inchs, correct guarding and plastics , full rider gear and kill switch with lanyard. (race fuel allowed)

MY QUAD: 350cc banshee with 20thou over TDR ultra light weight Teflon coated pistons, minimal porting just cleaned up, exhaust port timing raised, ADA coolhead with 20cc domes, boysen reeds, reed spacers, 28mm dellorto race carbs, procuircit pipes, adjustable timing plate +2, custom G3 racetech suspension and I'm running hoosier tyres allround

PARTS TO COME: alba +2 +1 arms, -2 swingarm, swaybar and rear lowering kit

INFO NEEDED: engine mods to get the most out of stock cylinders, can I run current suspension, outside tyre offsets, gearing and general set up

Note all my competition stay in 4th gear start the race in 2nd

so, this will be my first year "racing" on the ice this year, and I don't know what to get. after reading and researching for about 6 hours I decided to just post the question im assuming the c826 18X9.5-8 for the rears. but what rim would go on those? would it be 8x8 rim then? or is there a different 18inch cheng shin tire out there that im not seeing. then for the front I don't know what to go with? what would be a good tire for someone to start with?

My normal race series was cancelled this morning due to standing water on the ice so I drove 3 hours north to the Central Wisconsin series. This is my first time racing up there and I'm not quite set up on suspension yet but I was pretty happy with a 3rd place finish. I think if I had been a bit more aggressive in the turns I may have been able to do better...

Got my motor all dialed in, now suspension needs some serious work.

I only race oval. Roughly 1/3 mile track

Current setup is

-Front Stg 1 Elkas

-LSR +3+1 arms

-Swaybar

Rear

-Rebuilt stock shock (PEP spring and internals. Can post specs if it helps)

- -1 swingarm

When on the scales do I want all 4 corners equal? More on front or rear? More on 1 side?

I currently have about 1/2" toe in on the front, keep or change?

What about camber? they're tilted in pretty far at the top right now.

First, I have been ice and mx racing 3 wheelers for the last 3 years. Started out riding a modded 250 Tri-Z on the ice, then built my 310 mx bike for the jumps, and now we have built Trish....my stock bore, F.A.S.T. ported, 4mil, banshee powered 3 wheeler!! We built this bike originally for the drags, just because I had the parts laying around. After some seat time, I soon found it to be the BEST handling 3 wheeler I've ever ridden, and BY FAR the fastest thing on the track! I have done everything but mx with this bike so far, and it has won all but 1 race that I have entered with it (finished 7th at Pine Lake....the FIRST time I ever raced it...out of 20 guys). Won best bike build, and the open class drags at TrikeFest 2012. Even Won the first Ice race I entered with it, out on lake sacandaga, against a $20000 TPC with a pro aboard. Anyway, Here are some pics of her on clay, and a few set-up for trails (what a blast in the woods!!). Let me know what you guys think. I have fabbed a jig to build these frames in, and currently have 5 more in the works.... IF anyone out there wants one of these bad boys! enjoy the trike porn!

About to buy some wheels and tires for a supermoto Banshee. I saw this video and you can see that 3 of them have smaller/narrower wheels and real low profile tires. Has anyone got a set up similar to these ones? If so would you mind sharing your wheel size and tire profiles please?
