Yeah I'm leaning toward Jeff at fast right now. he's the one who originally built my engine and I had great service.
i might send him my crank and let him judge if im better off with a new one or not.
every thing else looks to be in great shape.. then again Im no crank expert either..
But you are right being canadian by the time I ship a crank out (probably to the US) to get fixed and then back to me It might just cost as much as a new crank unless someone know of a reputable shop in Canada
Ok so My crank was trued and welded on my last rebuild. 4 mil hot rod crank.
My piston melted down and while doing the top end I decided to inspect the bottom end. Glad I did.
The bearing on the stator side was shot and the weld on my crank has cracked and it splitted out about 2mm.
Can this crank be trued and re-welded or would i be better off getting a new Crank?
Hi guys,
I have a 4mil stock cylinder (Dune ported by F.A.S.T) 65mm bore
advance timing
shearer pipe
open airbox with K&N
Sea level
Just about to complete my rebuild and im wondering what would be a great starting point as far as jetting?
360 and 30?
is there a trick to take the screws out to take out the little plate behind the clutch (Bearing stopper plate)??
they are in there pretty tight and im afraid to strip them in..
yeah kind of what I figured... will need to find out why..
Would you guys go ahead and split the case to inspect for metal shaving in a situation like this? crank seems tight and in good shape.
What can cause this piston to be as bad and the other one to be in perfect shape?
id say around 300km on the 4mil rebuilt
Could a bad spark cause this? on my last ride the terminal nut came loose on the plug and it ran on 1 cyl for a short period of time.
Im not bashing your setup but if you were to cut hole and place some outerwear filter on top of the hole you would basically achieve the exact same performance and security of your setup and it would look a lot cleaner. I understand going with something like you did if your running larger carbs but if your not it seem like a bit of trouble for no real gain over a modded stock box.
