  1. I have a 2/1 duner and have had no issues once i got it dialed in. the needle is crucial in a 2/1. its either a dek or eek needle. Cascasde seems to have the 2/1 (pretty sure they machined their manifolds to match vf3's) jetting setups pretty dialed. maybe give them a call. Yes, i finally got a seconds 35 pwk so i will be switching to 2 carbs, but i ran my 2/1 for about 4 seasons and had zero gripes. just going with a bigger motor next time....gotta buy this damn house before i can get back to the fun stuff.
  2. I wouldnt agree with you on tune-a-bility, but its all what you get used to. The single does rob some top end. I rocked a single 35 pwk setup (on its last season) for a few seasons until i came across a deal on another single pwk 35. Now, when I do the next motor, i have duals waiting. rock your single setup while you save for another pwk 35 if money is an issue. you will see some improvement between the single 35 and the dual stockers. might not be much though. eek and eej are the types of needles. http://www.carbparts.com/keihin/needles_tuning/pj.htm. if you dont have the correct needle in it, it will be a bitch to tune.
  3. I got my silencers from cascade in bare metal for a little cheaper. Might ask them about that option.
  4. ^^^^ I still think this is where you should start. probably gonna be rich anyways. then you can jet down.
  5. I have a set. unported, on first bore. switched them out for a set of other cylinders i had. pm me if you are interested.
  6. He is serioulsy trying to derail this thread. I never see him contributing to threads. Mostly telling people they are dumb and wrong. Im assuming he might tell me i'm wrong....And "clueless" for thinking that. I only ride dunes so im just following this thread for the good read. Always wanted a custom dune frame, But im not on that level yet. Would be cool to see this custom build make it to the finish line. GLWB.
  7. Perfect Noob right here. ^^^ only took him 8 posts to get his bike running like a top. did all the necessary research and reading before posting the same questions veteran hq members have all answered millions of times and always complain about doing so....This could possibly be the golden noob. Good job man, glad you got your shee running right. now keep reading and get ready to mod.
  8. just get a port job and reassemble. Not too spendy.
  9. Thanks DDU, I have been thinking about these two scenarios quite a bit and i think im beginning to lean towards the stock cyl 4 mill....I can be persuaded the other way, but the trans mod AND porting AND 4 mill sounds like quite a change from my current setup. It will also depend on what type of port job my current cylinders are and if they still have some life left. If they are already ported pretty well i might decide to go the serval route. I only went on one ride this season so far and its just beginning. I didnt think i would tear my engine down this early in the season, but i think im gonna just do it and get this ball rolling. Im tired of paying for $10 a gallon race gas.
  10. I appreciate the input a lot ddu. The 4 mill serval is not an option at this point and time. Its either gonna be a stock stroke serval (adding a 4 mill crank down the road and pro mod) or a 4 mill stock cyl with pro mod (adding serval cyls later)....Im just trying to identify all the pro's and con's for each scenario as well as any details i may have not considered....Please feed more info!!
  11. are you running a single 35 or dual?
  12. Both scenarios have their positives. Im really stoked to possibly get the trans mod i have read so much about. The mono block as well...What type of riding do you do?
  13. Since i didnt start a thread when i did my last build, i decided to start before i even made my decision on which route to go. I am about two to three weeks out from driving out to redline and getting parts. It seems I havent been successful at typing the correct key words or phrases into the search bar because i havent found the answer to which setup i should go for. I am about pull the trigger on one of two setups. a stock stroke serval from redline or a 4mill stock cyl dune port from redline. they both would be great setups for my Oregon dunes only (maybe St Anthony's or Glamis someday), riding style. It looks like they will be about the same cost to me and here is why..... Scenario #1 I already received a quote from redline (made my decision on company) for a stock stroke serval setup with and without porting. Down the road i would do a 4 mill crank, porting (if i dont this time around), and the pro mod trans when i split the cases. Do it all at once. Scenario #2 If i go with 4 mill ported stockers, I will have to split the cases. If I split the cases, I will do the pro mod at that time so i dont have to split the cases for a while after that. Down the road i would do the serval cylinders. It seems as though the prices and power ( I only want to run pump gas) are just about the same and you are only saving a few dollars going one way or another at different times in the build. Have i over thought this so much that i have not left out any details? Cant be.... I know i will have to set aside money for seals, jets, random shit etc...I gotta be over looking something right? i have 35 pwk's already. I know i will need manifolds (I currently have a 2-1 setup and just acquired the second carb). I have paul turner highs im going to run with for a while, as i have a set of shearers i can buy when im ready (i just dont want the lightswitch power for duning....do serval or dune ported cyls tame that?), i already have a magnum billet clutch with stiffer springs, shift star mod, easy shift spring mod, vforce 3's, cool head....Basically i feel like i have all the supporting mods already and have boiled it down to the above two scenarios as a next move. Here is a variable. I have two sets of cylinders. a set of mild ported, i say that because i dont know who ported them (upfront is etched in the side of a cylinder) or what kind of port. They may be on their last bore though. I also have a set of virgin cylinders on their first bore. I am going to take both cylinders to cam to have him check out the porting on one and have the virgin set ready to be ported if the already ported cyls are on the last bore. So i guess im looking for input more than anything right now. also if anyone has input on that shearer lightswitch question that would be cool, but im mostly looking for you smart guys' thoughts. Please ask any questions regarding my build to help specify advice given. Thanks in advance.
  14. I shouldnt have been a negative nancy. If all the issues get worked out, it could be a great new variable to add the the banshee build's we all do. I only ride in the oregon dunes, so I wouldnt get much use out of one. But for the people who ride in various elevations and temps, i assume it will be much easier to tune like i said, after the issues get worked out.
